Mike Ells General Contracting

Mike was there with his son and assistant to install the beam, so that went in well. Then it went down hill. They framed the windows to the wrong size and did the small wall at a 100 degree angle (vs. 90 degrees). We called him to come back and fix the window, but he was not able to come until after the window measurement date. They replace several boards and pieces they had used to were already cracked and splitting. They said they would try and fix the wall, but wood bends, so it would probably still be off. They did not move the board at base that was creating the angled wall. They also used several questionable methods. Instead of using a new 2 x 4 they used an old cement framing board with nails still in it. At the visit to fix things they said they would scrape the cement off and pull the nail so we could drywall. They left without touching that wall. After having them do the original work and then come back to fix several issues there is still work. We still have to scrape the cement frame board ourselves. We had to pay another framer to fix the short was that is not squared. I will be look at that wall for the next 30+ years and "it is ok if it is a little off" is not ok! Basically I would not hire him ever again. He cut many corners and cost us enough extra money fixing issues that in the end it was a very expensive option.
