Deck or Porch - Build or Replace
We hired Jake to build a new deck for our yard and we could not be happier (both with the decision to hire Jake and the deck itself). We particularly appreciated the quality of his workmanship and his high level of attention to detail (something that was very important to us). Jake was also extremely helpful in the overall design and planning aspects of the project offering helpful suggestions about materials, potential layout, etc. every step of the way. Jake is responsive and professional and we would not hesitate to hire him again for future projects. On this deck project we were truly thrilled with the final results. Although we did see some lower bids for the work (before selecting Jake), we are confident that we got great value for our dollar in terms of final quality.

I have known Jake personally for over 5 years but only recently had the privilege of utilizing his contracting services. My wife and I purchased our first home last year and needed a complete interior paint job as well as replacement of all vents, door fixtures, smoke/carbon dioxide detectors, and weather stripping for our front door. Despite being on a time crunch, Jake completely exceeded our expectations with his quality of work. Jake s recommendations on color and style looked amazing! He was knowledgable with regards to all the modern touches. If you are looking for high-quality work on your home, we highly recommend Jake Hill Construction.

Jake Hill Construction is an outstanding company. They take care of all of the details and keep the client well-apprised of the project status. Jake and Ben are easy to work, really know their trade, and produce a high quality project. The final project, a complete deck rebuild, was top-notch and a great value for the cost. I have received numerous complements on the finished product. I have worked with many contractors over the years and Jake Hill Construction was the best by far.

Addition to Existing Structure Building Service
Jake and his helpers designed and built a stairway running down a retaining wall and giving access to the canyon below our house. He presented several designs and choices of materials, from which we chose what we wanted. The work took about a week, spread over a two-week period interrupted by a heat wave. Jake also redid parts of the wrought iron fencing along the retaining wall and installed a gate to the stairway. The stairway is so beautiful we almost want to build an entire house around it. Jake is very knowledgeable and is both a gentleman and a scholar. The entire experience was a pleasure! And the price was just a tad less that several other quotes we had, plus a tad more than some others--Jake just seemed like the right guy to do this project, and we're glad we chose him.

I remodeled my outdated 80's master bathroom into my dream bathroom and Jake was an important part for me to acheive that. He built out a privacy wall to make for a great bathroom display, removed a non-support beam so our ceiling was even, installed our vanity and most important framed our new shower with a pony wall and a niche where our old cultured marble tub was. He was patient and explained any step that I was not familiar. I highly recommend Jake for any home remodeling project!!!

Jake is a true professional and you will not be disappointed if you hire him for your project. He is honest, reliable, trustworthy and meticulous in his work. I was getting frustrated trying to find a contractor or deck company that would repair/replace my deteriorating deck. People would not return my calls or show up when we had agreed on an appointment time. When I called Jake he patiently walked me through the things that would be important to consider when embarking on the deck project. This was critical because I live on a canyon and the deck is suspended in the air, so it is more complicated than a deck that is at ground level. Jake came over to look at the deck and spent the necessary time to figure out what was really involved, including replacing some joists and beams that could not be saved. So instead of taking a quick look at the top of the deck, giving me a superficial quote and then adding costs on to it later, Jake was thorough about the scope of the project from the very beginning. In addition, he excelled at communicating regularly about work schedules, various options for the project and cost. Jake understands that cost is very important (sometimes most important) to homeowners and he acts accordingly. Jake was also straightforward about his availability explaining that he would not be able to start for a few months due to prior commitments. He even told me that I might want to consider another contractor or deck company if I wanted to get started sooner. That told me that Jake was more interested in my satisfaction than ensuring he ultimately got the job. However, at that point I was convinced that he was the best option and for me it was more important to have the right person for the job than to begin work immediately. I'm very happy that I did wait, because the deck is finished now, it is beautiful and just what I wanted. Finally, Jake takes real pride in his work and he will treat your project like he is working on his own home. That's probably the highest compliment I can pay him. I have other projects outstanding and have already asked Jake to provide bids for those.

Jake has a vast knowledge for many tasks needed around the home. He completely refinished my badly weathered front door. The finished product was equal or better than original. Jake also reworked and fixed a warped front gate. I also had an electric safety tripping problem which he fixed. Not only were tasks done in professional and timely manner but also with-in budget. He would the first one I would contact if another home project was needed.

Deck or Porch - Build or Replace
Jake and his crew are true craftsmen. No detail is overlooked - even for something as straightforward as a deck build. For example, my deck sits on 4x4 posts cemented into the ground. They ensured each post was perfectly vertical and centered in each hole, with enough space around the posts to allow for cement to completely surround them uniformly. Then after pouring, they ensured the cement was sloped away from the post to ensure any water can not settle around the post and cause the wood to rot prematurely. They are very precise - there is absolutely no errors visible in spacing or alignment of the deck boards. I have very high standards and was very impressed at the work Jake did. I recommend him to all of my friends.

Jake explains the work he will be performing and how he and his team will perform the tasks. After he completed a demolition section of our home, he found some imperfections from previous contractors which caused water damage. He explained what the previous group did and what he intends to do to mitigate the problems from happening in the future. His work is excellent and his communication is even better. We plan to use Jake for future work. He is honest and fair. Great experience!!

Jake is very knowledgeable on all aspects of construction. One of the outstanding qualities is the ability to detect and share with customer the costs and schedule up front. Too many times the contractor will bid low and come back with extras at a point it is too late to make a change.
