The project started off well, but it soon got very heated especially when the contractor demanded that I pay extra after the framing was completed. I was completely blind-sided by this action. I had never signed a contract for the additional funds required and he refused to complete the work unless the funds were paid. He never had enough funds to pay his hired help and he expected me to pay him lump sums during the remodeling so he could cover their pay. Besides raiding my refrigerator for drinks everyday and tracking in debris into the main part of the house when using my clean bathroom, what really bothered me the most was at the end of project. The contractor did not care at all about the quality of his work. He just wanted his final check.
