I am very happy with the end result (especially since it was finished before El Nino hit!), and I am looking forward to many, many, many years of a problem free roof!
We had asked them to reside part of our house, paint and replace some wooden stairs. When the bid came back at 13,000 we removed the stairs portion. Unfortunitly I did not look closely enough at the contract and they failed to include painting portion. I had assumed because thats what I asked for thats what they were charging me to do. I did email them the paint color I wanted the house painted and in another email I told them I wanted the paint to match what was already on the other part of the house.
So they knew that I was expecting the house to be painted. (they said they did not respond to my email because it did not apply to them)
When I went to check their work I was supprised to find that nothing was painted. They did however remove the wooden stairs leaving my downstairs door hanging in the middle of the house with no way to exit it. When I questioned them about the house not being painted and reminded them that I had emailed them twice about the painting they insisted that they had no idea I wanted the house painted. (I cant imagine many people want siding put up without it being painted)
When I asked them why they removed the steps they said they had made a mistake.
They offered to give me a quote "at their price" on painting the siding. Their quote came in at 7500.00. I had it done by someone else for 600.00.
As for the siding they installed it looks great.
Response to providers response. This company dealt directly with the owners (their are two of us). They stairs were removed after we told them not to. The person they referred us to, to paint the siding they put up gave us a bid 5000+ we had it done for 600.
"Our Roofing/Construction Consultant never met [member name removed]to discuss the work to be performed on his second home. He had a friend, acting as his representative, request an estimate and proposal for siding. All communication was done through this friend or by phone and email. Many additions and subtractions were made by the homeowner during contract negotiations. We recommend reading and reviewing your proposal before signing your contract and giving Copp Roofing permission to commence with work. We are not a painting contractor. As a courtesy, we refer our valued customers to a licensed painting contractor that we know and trust. The painting proposal from the subcontractor that was presented to [member name removed] was for the entire home. With painting, as with all things, you get what you pay for. Copp Roofing & Construction, Inc. removed the stairs, at the homeowner's request, free of charge. We are happy to know that [member name removed] was satisfied with the siding work that we performed on his home."
