This was my experience with Valerie Bechelli, real estate sales person. I would have rated her at 0 and and added, concerned only for the best interest of herself and her broker. I am an RN so my work ethic is all about caring for people and advocating for their best interest and their concerns. Sales person, it says it in the name, they sell. I just thought my needs and concerns would be a part of the equation. Valerie worked at the time for Coldwell Banker on 1st Street in Benicia. I was hoping to be supported and advised in my best interest. I am an older single woman and was buying my first home. The listing agent for my home was the daughter of Valerie's Broker, at Coldwell Banker on 1st Street in Benicia. Miss Bortolazzo is a young lady. I don't know how many house she has sold, but it felt to me like Valerie was showing her the ropes of selling houses. Mr. Bortolazzo told me that Valerie is his top producer and makes his agency millions of dollars every year. So it made sense if Valerie was training his daughter. I just didn't realize it would be at my expense. It was a nightmare. I felt very confused during the whole process. I also felt sad about being treated so carelessly. I wish I had never met Valerie. I called and emailed Mr. Bortolazzo, the broker several times and he said Valerie had not done anything wrong. He was not helpful or concerned at all about my dissatisfaction. Initially, Valerie told me to look at the home online. I did and I liked it. I wanted to visit and have a tour. Valerie told me that I needed to make an offer on the house, this was before I had even been to the home. She said that the sellers were leaving for Tahoe so time was a big factor. Then when we went to the house after that phone call, she told me that we needed to write a contract that day, stressing again that sellers were leaving for Tahoe in two hours. So, if I liked it, I needed to "get on it. " I did sign the contract, under duress, that day. I admit, I could have said no, but I did sign my name. After being lied to, undermined and harassed, I finally started asking questions and making demands of my own. Valerie didn't like it when I started standing up for myself so she began sending me threatening texts. She said that my 10 pound dog attacked her and said that I was standing there when it happened. First she said my dog jumped on her back and bit her and then she changed her story and said my dog bit her arm. She said she thought she had better to go to the doctor and asked for my dog's rabies record. She was reporting all of this to me, for the first time, two weeks after the last time she had been at my house. None of her accusation was true. She was threatening me. The deal was almost done and I was finally asserting myself and she didn’t like it. I was holding my dog or had him in his kennel anytime Valerie was at my house. I was trying to focus on the situation at hand. Not that he would have attacked her if he was out with us. Anyway, It's taken me a year to be able to even start the process of trying to get some restitution and closure, which probably won't happen, but at least I can speak about it. Hopefully no one else will have such a poor experience as my friend and I, who both had Valerie "helping us." Bottom line, I do not recommend her. Valerie was recommended by a friend who ended up firing her. My friend felt like Valerie was just trying to rush her into a home, any home. Unfortunately, Valerie had me in a contract so fast, it was too late to fire her. I didn't exercise my due diligence before trusting this sales person to help me find a home. A home that is now, a year later, having all kinds of problems. The problems that I am having now were all concerns I had brought up several times to Valerie. She always he had an answer for everything and assured me that she knew what she was doing. Yes, she does know what she is doing when it comes to making big money for Coldwell Banker and herself. I bought a $500,000 home and Valerie treated me like it was a bother for her to deal with me. It was obvious that it was just a deal, not a felt obligation to guide me, her client, to the best possible outcome. I had no interaction with her sister Jennifer, so I am not commenting on her. I am a little concerned about Valerie and her family retaliating due to me telling my story. I hope for all concerned that they are above that.
