I purchased a condo that had a chair lift that was purchased and installed by Acme. I (fortunately) do not need the chair lift. I wanted to sell the chair lift since it was still in excellent condition and had cost close to $8000. At two different times I had buyers who wanted to purchase this lift. Acme would not sell any parts to the purchaser's installer and indicated that they were the only ones who should move it. The cost to move it would be $2500......it was only being moved several feet away. When I found a second buyer, I advised them what Acme would charge to move it so there wouldn't be any surprises. My buyer contacted Acme several times to work out details as she was still interested in the purchase. A few days later I had a call from my buyer that Acme had recommended that she not purchase my lift since they would not guarantee any of their parts or service. The buyer also stated that she found Acme to be a group of very unpleasant people, and I can't agree more. They have cost me two sales and the folks who needed this chair lift will need to spend a lot more to purchase new. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I will find out how I can pursue this legally. Very upset
Description of Work: Resale of chairlift purchased and installed by Acme.

After researching alternatives, we chose Acme Elevator to install a elevator in our San Francisco flats. The entire Acme team ( sales, operations, customer service, service agreement personnel and the service team) far exceeded all of our expectations in all aspects of the process. Wes Rockhold and his entire team were a "pleasure" to work with!!!!!! My highest recommendation.
Description of Work: we were looking for a company that could install a passenger elevator in a upscale San Francisco building.

Installation went longer than I expected, but the result is good and the staff were helpful and friendly. Follow-up contact to check on how things were going. So far no problems or complaints. They took time to make sure I was knowledgable about all the instructions for use, and there has been no need to contact them for questions or help.
Description of Work: They are still installing stairlift as I write this. Can't review until job is complete Everything went well. No problems. Stairlift working as expected. Very good solution to our problems.

It was a very unpleasant experience. I tried to get some sort of a maintenance agreement to have the elevator checked on a regular basis but it never worked out. The last time I dealt with them they told me I needed a very expensive part and they had to order it. I said okay and didn't hear from them . After 2 months , I found someone else look at it ... the part cost 1.98 and took 10 minutes to install. I have never dealt with them again and have never heard if they got ordered or received the part!
Description of Work: Acme installed a home elevator for my daughter in a motorized wheelchair around 2000. The elevator was not installed properly and the door lock did not work, allowing my daughter to fall out of the elevator. She is fine but the elevator has never worked properly. I have had one repair after the other and the woman at Acme is so rude I have stopped using them. I went to Angies list and found a new Company and they are wonderful! Note: March 2013 I was called after this was posted . I understand the woman who caused the trouble is no longer with them and the young man in the service department was very nice.
