PICTURE PERFECT PAINTING

Richard and his crew allotted 7-9 days to smooth and repaint our interior. The first day they arrived they prepped the space, moved furniture and protected our floors. Work continued through the estimated time and several days extra. There were a few days that work started late (involving transportation issues for the crew). We had Richard return for several touch-ups and he was happy to do so. One wall obviously needed more than the one coat it received as you could see the original color underneath. There were cracks and a general sloppy job from where the compound was applied and not allowed to dry before being painted. We tried to stay out of our home for as long as possible but ultimately, you have to accept the work you receive when you are simply not willing to have them in your home anymore. In the aftermath, they came in over the estimate (Richard split the difference with us), there were light casings that were damaged when they painted the ceilings, gobs of compound that were not smoothed on the walls, paint drippings that dried on the walls, outlet covers that were not replaced or are missing screws, areas that missed being smoothed entirely--generally not a thorough attention detail as you'd expect from professionals in your home. As I repaint now, all of the imperfections they left behind are so evident to me and if I can notice, surely a paid professional should have before they called the job completed.

After signing the contract, the scaffolding was up within a week and work was underway. They (with our approval) worked through the weekends to get the job done. Each day the jobsite was totally cleaned and everything was stored away so we didn?t feel as though we were living in a construction zone. We were extremely happy with the job the entire way through, and we?re thrilled with the end result. Cannot say enough good things about Richard and his team.

His jobs are excellent, and the price right. I have never used another painting contractor since first hiring Richard, and I have used him a lot. He keeps within the estimate, and if an unforseen problem occurs, he will let you know before proceeding. More importantly, he will tell you if there is a problem instead of just painting over it. He is timely, and I have never had a problem with the crew whom he hires. Plus, he is just more than just a painting contractor; he's a good, caring person. When I first hired him, my then 89 year old somewhat senile Mom was still living. She complained to him that her cane was too long. He promised her that he would fix it. Shortly after he finished that initial job for us, he appeared at her doorstop, took her cane and cut it down to size, as promised. This thoughtfulness made her very happy, during what turned out to be the last year of life, and she brought it up constantly.
