After contacting three other gate companies that were recommended by contractors I'd used satisfactorily and after none of the other gate companies responding in three months, I came to Angie's List and found Straight Gate. I called them, played telephone tag for two days, and on the third day they came out to give me an estimate. The estimate was reasonable so I agreed to have them provide the two side gates. One was replacing a gate. One was replacing a wall that had been torn down. I was very impressed by the pictures and detailed plans they sent to me by email about an hour after they came out.
The gates were ready to be installed about two weeks earlier than promised. The installers came on schedule. They accidentally broke an irrigation line during the installation but promptly fixed it and with their help, the irrigation system works better than before so their breaking that line was a blessing in disguise.

We love our custom steel framed, horizontal planked faux wood/ vinyl fence! 
We had a great experience with Straight Gate Fence Company. We e-mailed them months ago expressing our interest and they were always quick to respond and never blew us off like some of the other companies did. Maybe they didn't take us seriously or couldn't customize the fence to our liking. Anyways, SGFC had great customer service. They were even able to provide us a soft quote from the pics I provided. 
We wanted to move forward and get a hard quote. An appointment was set up. On the day of,  Richard and team came out on time, measured, provided samples and answered all of our questions. Sold on their professionalism, we decided we wanted to work with them on the spot. 
A bit more than a week later, and our custom fence was completed. SGFC contracted a specialist team for the install. On the day of, they arrived on time and did a great install job.

He stole from me.  We had the gate for about eight months before it was warped and rusting.  He said in May that he would have to reorder it.  I have called him numerous times and he has just ignores me.  It has now been 4 months and we do not have the gate, and he has kept the money and makes no attempts to return my calls and texts.  He has stated that he would take care of it and it has been several months and he has not fulfilled his promise.  Stay away from this contractor!  He hasn't made any attempt to correct this situation.

My wife reviewed images on line so we knew exactly what we wanted, Richard came out and measured and a few weeks later the gate was installed. We've had some neighboors admiring the gate and we referred them to Straight Gate. We recently had an issue where the gate move out of alignment and Richard sent a crew to reallign the gate and everything looks great.

I had a new driveway gate installed.  I called several different companies and had 2 other estimates given.  Straight gate was the easiest one out off all.  Richard responded the same day I called him and came over the next day for an estimate.  The other two companies that gave me estimates both said they would get back to me the next day with an estimate but ended up calling 4 or 5 days later.  When Richard came to do the estimate, he brought a book with all the samples and had different texture samples in his truck.  I got the estimate on the spot and I hired him on the spot.  The gate was built and installed 2 weeks later as he stated and I love the gate.

I just had a new cinder block fence built so I contacted Straight Gate since they were so close. Called and set an appointment for 9;00 AM Saturday. They came on time and gave an estimate well within my budget. I was told it would take approximately two weeks to build but they had it finished two days early. Installation was done perfectly and cleaned up very well.

They were good. They were a little slower than I had anticipated, but they did a good job when they came. I like the fact that they have a large selection and the guy was really knowledgeable about what is happening in the neighborhood. My husband was disappointed because he asked for a specific design on the gate, a sort of a doorway on the gate, but that that didn't come out the way we had planned it, but they made good on the gate and put it in properly, and it's fine. We love it! We had to call them a couple of times, but they made good with the end result.

Overall the sales and installation was fine. Richard was personable and had good suggestions for what would look nice with our house and it really does look great! The only problem is service afterwards. I noticed after a few months after installation, with some rain, there was already some rust in metal parts of the gates. I called him and he stated the next time he is in our area, he will come fix it. That was 4-5 months ago!!! I have been trying to call him every month or so but it goes directly to voice mail and I have not heard from him again! I spoke to our neighbor who also had some issues with his fence from Richard and he stated the guy got an F from the BBB. Too bad, we didn't think to look him up there.
I will continue to call him and try again.
Definitely would not recommend him.

One of our dogs decided to remodel our old wooden gate, so it was time to shop for a replacement. We saw Straight Gate's Web site and liked the designs there. We called and soon got a call back and set up an appointment for an estimate, which was free.
They came out with a flatbed truck that had samples of the materials and styles, and also provided a large album with additional examples. They were very patient as we studied our options, and offered excellent advice. They were clearly experienced and knowledgeable. (They have been in business since 1982.)
We considered a wooden gate, but thinking of the dog's ambitions to do unauthorized woodwork, decided to go with a nice-looking vinyl. Again, we were shown a range of options and were not pressured in any way.
We asked for an opening to be made at the height of our dogs, and Richard, the owner, designed one on his electronic tablet while we spoke, showing us what it might look like, etc. He took measurements and gave us the estimate. He did not want to take a deposit, and told us that it would be approximately 2 weeks before the gate was made. That same afternoon he sent a drawing and specifications for the locks he recommended we use. (We purchased these that day.)
About ten days later, the company called and arranged to install the gate -- they kept exactly to their estimated time. The installer arrived on the arranged date at the time he said he would be there.
Part way into the installation, he realized that there was a problem -- the vinyl slats, manufactured by another company -- were too short for the frame. You might wonder why I am still giving the company an "A" -- it's because of the way they handled the problem. First, they were honest and upfront -- they immediately let us know about it. Second, they offered several possible remedies, including starting from scratch. Third, they gave us a discount the bill -- no hassle -- even though the solution we chose was more costly to them.
In fact, when they finished the work, we liked the look as much as our original plan. The installer hauled away our old gate and left the work area cleaner than he found it.
I highly recommend this company. We love our new gate, which is well-made and has received many compliments. We would be happy to do business with this company again.
