On 3.16/23 I selected MR Garage Door Repairs to replace my Liftmaster Model 8550W-267. The owner of the company Miguel arrived at approximately 11: am. He was told to remove the older Liftmaster garage door opener and replace it with an upgraded model. I made sure to remind him that I wanted the same model or an upgraded model and nothing else. He was also told that I haven't had a working garage door opener for a few weeks and that the new model would be a surprise for my wife and that I had to make sure he was going to do it correctly. He promised that he was going to use the upgraded model. He then completed the installation at 11:30 am. I noticed that he replaced the old garage opener with a Liftmaster model. I asked him if it was an upgrade and he reassured me that it was, by showing me the 2023 issued date on the back of the new Liftmaster. He also provided me with a new remote. I asked him to reprogram 3 other older remotes. He informed me that for the garage door opener to work efficiently, that I had to purchase a non-LED 60-watt bulb because he was informed by Liftmaster that LED bulbs cause the garage door not to work properly. He left at 11:39 am. and I immediately noticed that the garage opener was not working properly and that the newly programmed remotes were not working. At 11:41 am, I noticed that after closing the garage door, it opened by itself. I assumed that after buying the new 60-watt bulb, the problems would be resolved. At 3:57 pm, I visited Lowes Hardware. I purchased a 60-watt non-LED bulb. I sent a picture by text to MR owner Miguel and he told me that the bulb was the correct one. At 4:14 pm, I noticed that MR had left the entire old Liftmaster machine on the garage floor. I sent MR owner Miguel a text asking him to remove the old Liftmaster, and at 4:25 pm he responded by saying, "I didn't want to take it because I didn't know if you wanted to sell it or take it to get recycled" I responded by telling him I did not want it and it was my expectation that he would have removed it from my home. It should be noted, that Miguel never offered to assist me on this issue or to remove the item. I then had to find a way to discard the used product, including the (chain and the track). This was the first sign of problems to come. I texted Miguel at 5:43 pm to tell him that the product was not opening the garage from the outside and I had to use a key to enter my home. At 5:51 pm my wife arrived home and she was visibly unhappy that the garage door opener did not work. At 5:52, Miguel texted me and said that he would be coming over the following day to check for problems, but I needed to make sure I replaced the bulb with a non-LED bulb. I informed Miguel that the non-LED bulb that I purchased at Lowes did not correct the problem. He then started to make excuses as to why the machine was not working. I told him that MyQ, the Wifi camera, and the connection did not work. I told him I would be buying another type of non-LED bulb the following morning. On 3/16/23, at 7:30 pm Miguel asked me to send him a video of the problem. I responded by asking why he just could not come the following day as promised. On Friday, March 17, 2023, at 9:51 am I contacted the technical department for the Chamberland Garage Door Company, owners of Liftmaster products. I asked them about the LED issue. They informed me that I could use a 100-watt LED bulb from a reliable company like GE. They were confused as to why the insisted had insisted on non-LED products since the state of California made it difficult for customers to find non-LED products because of new energy consumption regulations. I then went to the K&L Hardware store and purchased a LED 100-watt bulb. After inserting the bulb into the Liftmaster machine, I saw no difference in the performance of the product. On Saturday 3/18/23 at 10:20 am, I contacted the Chamberland Garage Door Company. I asked them to compare the product that I had before with the new one installed by MR Garage Door Repairs. They informed me that the new product was not the same or above and in fact was a few levels below the original product. They described the new model as two grades below the product that was removed. On 3/18/23 at 10:51 am, I contacted MR owner, Miguel by text. I informed him about what I learned from Chamberland and that they had informed me that the product was not what he claimed was installed and what I requested. I asked him to replace the product with the same model I had before or give me an upgrade and if could not do that, to give me a refund immediately. I also told him that the remotes were not working. To follow up, I contacted MR owner Miguel on 3/18/23 at 11:04 am. Within seconds of my call, Miguel began to use vulgar profanity and he started to threaten me with violence. He said, "I am going over there and I will confront you face to face." I asked him to remove the product and to give me a refund and he said, "I will give you $320 dollars. I don't work for free. I told him that $320 was not fair and then he called me, "senile" and used the F word many times. I told him that if he came to my house, I would be calling the police and have him arrested for trespassing.

Everything seemed to go well and they seemed reasonable with pricing. They did however say I had about ~30% left on my garage door springs but then one completely broke 2 months later… im going to assume it was a coincidence and not malicious when he did a tune up (hoping he didn’t over tighten the spring)
