They arrived on time, looked professional and were friendly enough, but at the end of the check up, the service guy showed my husband photos of our furnace, and told him that it had been recalled in the 90s, that there were burn marks in our attic, and it was a potential fire hazard. He warned that we should not use the furnace again & need to replace the whole system for $15k.
We then had 3 other companies come to the house who all recommended that we replace the system with bids from $8600 to $12k (R&R was the most expensive, by far), butnone of them were able to confirm that the furnace had been recalled nor though there was a fire risk. In our assessment, the R&R service man was trying to provoke us to purchase a new system from him by using fear tactics. Not good.
