Tierra Verde Landscape and Masonry Inc.

Paul and his crew did a great job! The project was installed on time and on budget. This is the second landscape installation Tierra Verde has installed for me and I will call on them again when I have another project. The crew is very thorough and delivers top quality work, they really know their trade. I highly recommend Tierra Verde Landscape and Masonry Inc.

Started out just fine. Called Tierra Verde based on the majority of positive reviews from Angie's List and this being a local vendor. I had just purchased a home and knew several sprinkler valves had been installed incorrectly (below ground) and were constantly leaking. The owner (Paul) came out to look at the valves and confirmed that they were installed incorrectly and needed to be replaced. He seemed very knowledgeable and we were on the same page as to what needed to be fixed. I asked for an estimate and he said and quot;about $400and quot;. Seemed a little on the high side to replace valves but I wanted them done right so I agreed.

The work was done over the course of 2 days because Paul told my wife he needed to let one area around the valves dry out and he didn't have some of the correct parts. I looked everything over and was satisfied with the job once complete.

The disappointment came when I received the invoice by mail a week later for $765.38! Nowhere near the $400 estimate.

I don't expect estimates to be spot on but I do expect people in their respective fields to be in the ballpark when quoting jobs. I do not consider 191% from the original estimate to be anywhere near ballpark. Nothing had changed since the original visit to my house to quote the work. Therefore, there were no new factors that would have caused a change in the scope of work. In addition, Paul mentioned to my wife that he had to make additional trips to get the correct parts. Why should the customer be penalized for this?

In summary, I was happy with how the work turned out but completely mislead in the cost.

I contacted this company with from their web e-mail and by calling (hint calling during work hours is better). It probably took a week and a half between the first contact and the appointment date for the company came over and evaluate the yard, but this was not a problem for me. I found Paul, the owner, friendly and easy to work with. He offered an honest opinion about the situation, both with regards with my yard and the type of services he can offer. Unfortunately, I live just outside his regular yard work service area, which can probably be best described about 5 miles around the Pasadena to Azusa area of the San Gabriel Valley. However, he would be able to send his tree specialists to remove my ridiculous Ash tree and trim two of the trees in the front. His team even did a bit extra trimming of some brush.

Sounds like his team already has a full plate, but I think it would be worth at least to consider this company for estimates of Tree Services, Landscaping, or Sprinkler work especially if you live within his service area mentioned above. Overall, I was satisfied.

The project went very well overall. I researched many landscape contractors in the area before choosing Paul. He was the only landscape contractor in my area that was licensed, fully insured, who has a business office, and who owned all the heavy equipment that was needed for this job. I found Paul to be very knowledgeable, he had ideas that worked well for me. His crew and office staff were pleasant and easy to work with. When I hired Paul, I got a high quality team that truly transformed by yard!
