How did it go? He showed up early on the morning of the day he promised. He worked 9 -10 hours every day! All materials were manually transported from the front to the back via a narrow side yard. When he had questions, he not only asked, but also offered alternatives based on his experience so we could make an informed decision on things we knew little about. Unexpected rains delayed the completion date, along with an owner requested change based on the startling transformation we watched unfold. Even with that, he finished before we expected. EXCEPT, he could not find three plant species in good enough condition, size and health to finish the planting. We agreed that we could wait for the right plants, not really expecting to hear back until spring or summer and based on past experience assumed we would have to bug him to come finish it. One day in mid January we received an email from Dave saying he tracked down the materials he wanted, but one was a substitution from the original design and if we approved he would try and finish the planting sometime in the future. We loved the substitution idea and responded the next day. A week later another email arrived saying not only had he finish everything, he did some soil prep and irrigation changes to accommodate an annual planting area that would look nice next the the new patio area - Go Figure! We did not even know he had been back because he is so through and clean about his work!
Again the guy is AMAZING - and no I am not a relative. I have spent 40 years dealing with contractors, this guy in a league of his own in my opinion. If you are thinking of a landscape project within his work area, you're crazy not to call and hire him immediately!

We hired Dave, owner of Landshaping, for various phases of our landscaping during the last 1 1/2 years. We were looking for somebody who was trustworthy and had a mind for detail, as he would be working off of somebody else's design. The fact that Dave is a one-man-show was actually very nice for us because we knew that everything that was completed, was completed by his own hand. He did everything we ever asked of him and he did it well. He was originally referred to me by an acquaintance who loved Dave's work at his own house.
We would recommend Dave wholeheartedly as long as future customers knew to pay Dave directly by personal check as there were some disagreements about online bank issued checks, specifically the time it took to receive them. Also, Dave has a creative mind, which is what I assume draws him to landscaping . He works best, I think, in situations where the design is his own and so allows him to take ownership of the process and provides him with an sense of fulfillment. Working off of another's design seemed to cause conflicting feelings.
That being said, Dave was wonderful and implemented our overall landscaping design very well.

They were very good. I like them and they did a good job. They were very good but there were things that happened that shouldn't have happened. We will use their services again in the future.

I thought the work went well. They did everything that they said they were going to do to our satisfaction. They came recommended by a neighbor across the street. She said that she was satisfied, and that they did what they were asked.
Response from Landshaping
"Unfortunately, I think (Member Name) has Landshaping confused with another company because I have never worked for her. I believe I talked with her regarding her project and recommended another landscaper who works in her area. Roseville is outside of my service area."

He comes out once a month. I pay him one hourly rate when he uses a tractor and another hourly rate for his labor. He is very good about adding it all up and I don’t think he charges enough actually. Every once in a while he forgets to charge or something and I have to remind him. He works very hard. We have a local nursery that is right down the street and two other customers that I happened to run into told me about Dave Polgar from Landshaping, while I was inquiring. He was used locally by them and they were thrilled with his work and I have been too. It's a long project and he is going to be here every month for another 5 years probably. I have so many moles and gophers that everything has to be done. It's a plague in are whole subdivision. There are so many landscapers out there that if he wasn't an A I wouldn't have him back.

Dave is taking a large sloping, rock-filled, gopher-infested field and turning it into a garden area for two people one with a bad knee and the other with a bad back. Dave was fantastic and very willing to work with my financial limitations. Although he doesn't take credit cards, he arranged for me to pay his suppliers with my credit card at my request. ($2882 of the above amount was what I actually paid him by check). He was willing to stretch out my landscaping and do an additional planting bed each month - four more curved rectangles and several round beds. The two finished planting beds curve with the slope of the field - they look great. Once the rest of the planting beds are all finished, I'll be having him back to beautify the rest of my five acres.
