Stephanie was prompt in setting up a consulting visit. And we had a bid for the work a couple days by e-mail. We chose Farias, because it was less expensive than another bid that we had gotten by roughly $1500. Stephanie explained how the work would proceed, and we set desired a timeline, of less than a month to have it ready in time for visitors from out of town. We picked our fixtures from Cornelia's. Tile from Esmer. And we came up with a rough design for tile layout (me and my wife). (took 2 visits, as we wanted to make sure we weren't holding up the work) The tearout was very quick. Then we had to have all of the shower valve, vanity, ready for the installation to start. The work was spread over several weeks in October. The bathroom looks good. The shower door we had put in just in time by South Bay Marble, ahead of our visitors arriving for thanksgiving. We had the finishing touches done when the shelf, towel bar, soap dish, and safety bar were installed in April'10. We had to wait until the accessories came in from modern.bathroom.com. What makes the contracting work only fair is the added cost of $728 beyond original bid. There were three issues. One, to have 2 paint colors; one for the ceiling, and one for the walls. Second we used 2 types of tile, not just 1. And, third, we picked a fixture that uses incandescent bulbs requiring a motion sensor switch. We also wanted a splash guard around the vanity sink, and we negotiated to not get our Angie's List gift certificate, and call it even, in order to install that tile. I was not happy with the lack of attention to detail, for example the shower valve we got was a Hansgrohe wallbar. And, the tile was done/valve installed, before confirming, or with lack of knowledge that we weren't requiring a head high pipe connection, just the wall bar valve. So, it works, but the valve and wallbar were available ahead of time. And Stephanie said they were familiar our ordered valve. In installing the head high pipe connection (typical shower head location), the 2nd tile, glass, single line, was cut, rather than drilled, so shows a crack. We have also had the floor settle enough that the grout along the tile that lines the wall has cracked. The motion sensor switch, doesn't work well, as it doesn't sense when someone is in the bathroom, and shuts off when you're in the shower. Just a number of things which means we don't feel confident to use them for a more complex job.
