They disabled the whole system and wanted $13,000 to fix it but another company came and it was under $500 to repair it.  The other company said it would be around $5000 to replace the whole system.

In the end, I decided to get a new ultra premium furnace and all new duct work.  I feel really good about the whole thing.  The furnace is super quiet.  We don't even know it's on.  It's 98% efficient, and the building inspector said he wished his own house's furnace install had been so good. There's even an alarm to indicate if there's any leaking. The return air duct is now sized right. The installers were efficient, clean, and very pleasant. I had them back to do more duct work in the kitchen.

The workers arrived on time, put on protective foot wear and prepared my home with floor coverings. They reviewed the work that was going to be done and worked very efficiently. Part way through the day, the manager came by to check on the men's work. The project took most of the day and when finished all work was cleaned up nicely.
I was very pleased with the work that was done and impressed by their professionalism.

Job went well and the technician seemed very capable.  Showed me what he said was some problems with the unit and said I would have to replace the part in the next few years.  Gave me an estimated cost of a new furnace.  Did a good job of laying down tarps to catch dust/dirt and made sure parts didn't get on the carpet.  Cleaned up the area before leaving.

I set up an appointment for a house that I had just purchased. Because it was a recent purchase my billing address was different than the house that the inspection was to take place at. I made a point of explaining this when I made the appointment and pointed this out  again when they called to confirm the appointment a couple of days before the appointment date. So the guy shows up at my billing address on the day of the appointment. Had to reschedule. The guy shows up the next day and proceeds to bad mouth the installation of the heater he was to inspect and tells me it needs to be replaced and that One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning is the only company that does a good job of installing heaters. He came across as insincere and I felt I wasted my time and money.

Quick version: This company lacks any real professionalism or customer-centered view and are out to wring high margin profits out of unsuspecting customers.
Full version: I was notified that a multi-point inspection special was on offer from this company through Angie's List. I thought that it would be useful to pay for the inspection in my new home. I paid for the inspection visit and awaited an appointment from the company. Within a few days they contacted me and arranged a date and two-hour window. They assured me that I would be contacted as the technician was heading to my home so that I could make the short journey from work and meet them.
On the day, I was alerted at the top of the hour by a national call center that the technician was at my home. They knew nothing about the arrangement agreed whereby I would be given a ten minute window. I ran home to find .... no one. After twenty additional minutes (thirty into the two hour window for the appointment) I contacted the national service center. They dropped my call, but phoned back to tell me that the technician was on their way. Fifteen minutes later the technician arrived.
The technician was friendly, courteous, and set about inspecting the furnace. After some twenty minutes, the inspection was complete and the technician asked to share their findings.
Three issues had been identified. Part of the  2006 furnace itself needed to be insulated, at an estimate of $358.00. The blower drum needed to be cleaned, amazingly enough, also at a cost of $358.00. The capacitor for the blower motor was at 9.46 and needed to be replaced. When I asked for more information on this capacitor I was told the following: It should be 10, the technician didn't know what units the readings were in, and that when it reached 9.4 the furnace would cease working. To fix was $153.00 for a new capacitor. I hesitated and the technician told me that the capacitor was the one item he deemed critical, but that I could wait for the furnace to fail and he would return to fix it afterwards, I would only be out of heat for the period to arrange a return.
I asked about the warranty on the new capacitor to understand what my investment of $153.00 would get me in order to keep my furnace working. He responded that if the capacitor failed sometime in the next year, he would return and replace it for free. Nothing in writing.
Despite my misgivings, I proceeded to authorize the replacement. He finished the job in under ten minutes. I asked him to leave the old capacitor and he hesitated, but upon my insistence he left it. I paid him a total of $193.00 for the replacement of the capacitor, parts and labor (< ten minutes). I immediately went to the internet to look up this part. Here is a link to the part on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/97F9002-Volt-Oval-Capacitor-Upgrade/dp/B00EUGJ7FO It costs $11.52 at the time of this review. The company charged me some 12x the cost of the part on amazon. They charged my $40 for labor for the replacement. Here is the youtube video showing how to do it yourself < two minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPIZEFzalgI
I phoned the company within twenty minutes of the technician leaving to express my alarm and regret. I was pushed between multiple staff at the national call center, who told me that they were unable to reach anyone at the local office to deal with my complaint. Nonetheless, they would make certain that management at the local office would reach me within the next 24 hours to deal with my "understandable concerns".
24 hours later, I have had no contact. So, I just phoned the company again and this time got the local office. I asked them to look up my account. They did so. I asked if they had anything to say to me. They told me that they knew that my furnace had just been inspected and my capacitor replaced. I asked about a note for management to call me. Nothing. I asked to speak to management. They resisted for a bit but relented and put me on hold. Three minutes later they returned and told me that unfortunately there was no management available. I queried that. I was told that management all left the local office at 4:00 p.m. It was now 4:45 p.m.
I am disgusted with this company. They scammed me, straight and simple. They gouged me with a 12x margin on an easily accessible part and charged my a high rate for a job that was a fraction of the job that they had already been paid to complete. They misdirected me when I complained, promised me followup but didn't act upon any of it, and put me into a hold pattern when I persisted, avoiding any accountability. Avoid this company. Avoid One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning. Use anyone else, it will be a better result for you.

The install didn't take long. It was wasn't worth the $8464.00. I have to pay for the next 84 months. Vendor said he was going to give me a deal. Yeah right! for himself & the company. It must have been 200 dollars in labor for 3 hours and there was 3 guys. The unit itself cost 1,200 I found out from a person from work who works in the boiler house for the state. Yes, I got taken!

The service visit went very well.  The technician arrived on time and spent a considerable amount of time going over the furnace and explaining things to me.  He made some excellent suggestions and determined that the furnace was in good working order.

It went fine.  They did a good job.  They saved me some money because he was able to cut down the gas usage and it functioned better.  They were quick and prompt.

It went very well.  John put in a new thermostat and serviced the heater.  He found a gas leak and had to come back the next day to put in a new hose. He was on time and very professional and knowledgeable.  He took the time to explain how to program the thermostat.

Very well.  The technician was a little late so they gave me the service at half-price.  He spent considerable time going through the heating system including assessing heat output at each of the vents in the house, and checking and servicing the furnace.  A second technician showed up to assist and answer questions about options to improve the airflow in one room.  He went into the attic and checked the duct going into that room.  He identified the problem and offered options to correct the problem.  No pressure to do anything.  I would recommend this company, particularly if the knowledge and skill of the other technicians are as good as these two technicians, Kyle and John.  I can see why Costco has partnered with this company.
