Repairman was very professional and did a great job. He not only repairs the appliances, but also left them cleaner than they had been.

It was great. The technician called to confirm the appointment window and arrived on time. The fridge and freezer weren't cooling at all even though it sounded like it was running. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a circuit board and said he had a new or used one on his truck at different prices. When he opened it up he found that it was a loose connection to a relay on the board and soldered it and that was that. I really appreciate that he could have replaced the board and charged a lot more and I wouldn't have known the difference but had the experience to notice the loose connection and just fix it. Less than an hour start to finish. Only thing that would have made it better would be if they had been able to come out the same day but that's probably
just dreaming.

Last week I submitted a review of Coulton Appliance Service, who connected my gas dryer, but did a cheap job, for which the gas company subsequently cited me because the installation was not to code.  The manager  refused to do anything to correct the situation.  However, after seeing my review on Angie's List, he sent out a technician to repair the work.  This technician was prompt, courteous, and efficient.  I was not charged for either parts or labor for the repair.  Thank you, Angie's List!

"Hello and thank you taking the time to read this response. Our company strives to provide the best service possible at any price. I was notified by this customer in May, 2014 about an installation of a dryer we had performed in September of 2013 wherein our technician had extended, i.e. coupled two gas flexes together due to the location of the gas supply and relative position of the dryer. If done correctly, as in any aspect of an installation, this procedure is perfectly safe. The parts to do this are available at most any hardware store. Unknown to me was the fact that this procedure is not "code." The customer demanded I correct the "code violation" or provide at least a partial refund. In my mind there was no cause for concern and I tried to convince her that the procedure was safe. This was a poor choice. In retrospect, I should have immediately offered to rectify the issue. I have since done so at no charge of course. While we always aim to please, it just goes to show the amazing power that Forums like Angies list has to get results and keep service companies like ours on the straight and narrow. Kind regards, Russ Coulton"

He was prompt, wore shoe protectors and brought a shop vac to suck up the water from the drain pipe. He was friendly and professional and cleaned up the area when he was finished.  I would call them again if I had washer or dryer problems.

Response from Coulton's Appliance Service
"Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this response to a very poor review. You can imagine how concerned we were to find this on our review page. We have searched our records to see what in the world this customer is talking about. WE HAVE NO RECORD OF HAVING SERVICED THIS RESIDENCE IN 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013. We were at that residence in 2009, but under a different customer. We are not a retail outlet i.e. appliance sales. Nor do we do factory warranty for GE or SUB 0. Our company is a father son operation and simply don't have the means to move or install commercial style refrigerators. I've got a call into Angie's list as we believe this customer is confusing our company with another service provider. Russ Coulton"

Great technician who was personable and did a great job. Got an appointment on fairly short notice. Just seemed like it cost a lot more than it should have. $125 "trip/evaluation" + $125 "labor" + $75 for parts. Good company - they replaced my water heater, too. I just feel like charging for both the trip and the labor is a bit much.

I discovered my refrigerator was not cooling when I walked through the puddle of icy water in the middle of my kitchen. I have always kept my home warranty active, and called them to set up a repair. Fidelity National told me that the standard time for a repair person to contact me is 24 hours, but since it was my refrigerator I could call back in an hour and get the name of the company they were going to dispatch. After getting the name, I called Coulton's and explained my problem -- It was about 10am. By 12:30pm, their repair man, Lucas, was on the phone with me trying to see if there was anything I could do on my own. When he determined there wasn't, he was at my door within 10 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem and immediately set about fixing it. When he was finished, I asked him a simple question about my dishwasher. Again he was very quick in determining the problem. He then verified that it was covered under my home warranty before beginning the repair. Because of his diligence, I was able to get both repairs done under one deductible. Lucas was very responsive, professional and knowledgeable. He even mopped my floor when he was done. I would definitely recommend Coulton's Appliance Repair to anyone who needs help.

Repairman: Great. Wish I'd asked for his name. Company line: Seems to me from this one experience to be "Fleece 'Em!" This apparently common problem* could have likely been diagnosed over the phone. Do they need to train the receptionist better or is this their business plan? Makes you wonder.

Lucas arrived on time and first offered an upfront estimate before he began the repair. I agreed to the estimate and he got busy. In just a few minutes he had all the various parts of the washer disassembled and was ready to install the new bellows. Once the bellows was installed he quickly reversed the process and reassembled the washer. He then ran the machine through a quick cycle to check for leaks. Together we replaced the dryer in the stacked position above the washer, and Lucas reattached the gas line and the electrical power. It was then that he noticed a tear in the discharge pipe from the dryer. He recommended that it be replaced immediately. I agreed to the additional charge. After replacing the discharge hose we moved the machines back to their original locations. He then ran the washer through an additional quick cycle to check again for leaks. Then he ran the dryer to be assured it was operating correctly. He completed the job by filling out the invoice and explaining each of the charges. Finally he collected my payment via my credit card and returned my copies of the paperwork.
