When I recently moved to the Central Coast one of my first priorities was to find day care and boarding for my seven-year-old terrier. My little guy had enjoyed a wonderful arrangement at our previous home and I was hoping to and quot;come closeand quot; to something similar near Arroyo Grande. After checking out -- and passing on -- several more standard facilities, I was fortunate to find Love Dogs Camp.
I could not be more pleased with the outstanding service provided by the owner, Carolyn, and her very attentive assistant, Jennifer. More importantly, neither could my dog! He goes to LDC two or three times a week and as soon as we turn down the country road to camp, he starts barking -- and it's in delight, not dread. When we arrive, he literally leaps from the car and is off to play with his new pack.
Here's what I most appreciate about Love Dogs Camp:
1. Dogs (and owners) are carefully interviewed prior to being and quot;acceptedand quot; for camp and this includes how the dog interacts with other campers. My dog is very and quot;betaand quot; and I never worry that he's going to be bullied or even intimidated by another.

• 2. Dogs are never unsupervised; there is always an attendant with them and she often leads them in play throughout the day.
• 3. There are no crates or cages; when my dog overnights, he sleeps with the attendant.
• 4. Both the owner and her staff are extremely knowledgeable about dogs, both physically and -- never sell this short -- psychologically. At an owner's request, they will continue all training protocols.
• 5. The owner and staff genuinely do love dogs and you immediately sense this.
• 6. It's the next best thing to my dog being with me.

It went very well. I have used this service before and I am always pleased with the wonderful care given to my dog.
She is cared for as if she were their personal pet. She is allowed to sleep as advertised and quot;couches not cagesand quot;.

I have been a customer at Love Dogs Camp for 10 years. It began with my 10 month old lab, Daisy in 2004, then in 2009 I added my 2 month old lab, Hootie. In 2012 I added a German Shepherd puppy. All my dogs prefer this dog camp because of the personal attention, freedom and non-stop play. They enjoy nap time on sofas with people and home cooked snacks. This place is great for socialization and growth. The staff is knowledgeable and loving. I originally took my first dog there for boarding, then very quickly began the day care. I was working at the time and this was the answer to my prayers. Instead of leaving a lonely and bored puppy at home to rearrange the household, I would drop her off in the morning on my way to work and pick her up on the way home. As soon as we got home, she would crash until the next day. It was wonderful getting her socialized while I was working and made her much more calm and attentive in her training classes and on her walks. I highly recommend this service. Jennifer and Carolyn are wonderful with dogs. You must interview with your dogs to see if this is the right option. Most dogs thrive in this environment. Vicious dogs need not apply. Scared and timid dogs usually do a quick turn around and become socialized, happy dogs. I am retired now and still have 3 adult dogs in day care here 3 days a week!

It always exceeds my expectations, my dog gets excellent care while he's with Carolyn and her caring staff. I love the fact that she doesn't have crates, my dog sleeps in a bed at night with a staff member, he eats what he eats at home (probably better!) and he always hates to leave. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else.
