COMPLETE ENGINE SVC

My head gasket blew on my '89 chevy pickup.  My boyfriend was doing the replacement work instead of taking it to an auto repair shop.  I needed to have the valves and heads checked and if all was OK, I needed to have the heads milled to get the best surface ready for reinstallation.  I didn't know where to go so I got a referral from our local towing company.  They referred me to Complete Engine Service in Arcata.  I did not call first but just took them over to see what they thought needed to be done and prices.  They quoted me $35.00 per head for the two tests to be run and $40.00 per head if they past the tests.  Total estimate was $150.00.  I dropped off the heads around noon.  I had a call by 10:00 the next morning stating they had passed the tests, were milled, and were ready to be picked up.  The total costs matched the estimate, the heads looked beautiful, and they were completely done within 24 hours.  I worked with a gentleman named Todd and he could have taken me for much more as I had suggested I was prepared to have a valve job done at the same time but he assured me that it was not necessary and everything looked good.  I also asked if he thought I should bring in the bottom half of the engine (motor) to have it checked, but he said that the heads were in such good shape that I shouldn't bother.  Once the gasket and heads were replaced, the engine should be good to go.  Again, he passed up an opportunity to get me for more money if he had wanted to.  I was totally impressed with the service, the honesty, and the knowledge that I experienced in dealing with this company.
