I had two contractors quote on the job on Saturday.  I contacted Solar Unlimited on Monday to have the stuff installed.  Two guys started on Wednesday and finished Thursday morning.  Talk about fast turnaround!
The system went on-line at 10:30am and by 5:30pm the pool had increased 4°F from 71 to 75!
I chose Solar Unlimited because the panel style they have is the one where there are a series of small & separated tubes that connect between the top and bottom feed pipes.  These Fafco panels allow installation on roofs where there are vent pipes, as the tubules are simply spread apart.  They carry a 12 year (labor included) warranty vs. the solid panel competitor for 10 years.  Plus, they only connect onto the roof via a rail at the top, so less locations for leak potential.  Because of wind, the solid panels (which look better, but I can't see mine) need to connect at numerous places and I couldn't get as many because they don't dodge the vent pipes.
The pipe routing and panel installation are excellent and very discrete.  The installation looks very professional.
The $5230 price included an $800 rebate from Fafco.  The competing company ballparked me a $6k price but didn't have a rebate.  And the final kicker is that the panels are made right here in CA!

Received two bids for the installation of solar heating for our pool, and we went with Solar Unlimited because the terms and price were better.  They offered 6-month same-as-cash, no interest payment, as well as offered free solar rings for our pool.

They came and installed the solar panels as scheduled.  It took about 6 weeks for us to receive the solar rings, but that did not affect the job.  We are happily using our pool and have recommended this company to several neighbors, one of which will have the same installation on his property.

They showed up on time and the quality of work was good and the system is working well after 3 months of use. I would use these people again and recommend them.

Ken Jacobson came out and measured our pool and measured the patio area where the solar panels would be installed. He said we needed ten 12' solar panels to heat our pool. Well, on the day of installation, the installers realized the 12' panels would not fit on the patio, and furthermore, only nine 10' panels would fit. Ken had only measured under the patio, he did not measure on top. So he came back and calculated that the nine panels would adequately heat the pool. I was told by Ken it would give me 80% coverage, while the Operations Manager (on site) told me 63%. Obviously I was not happy. The new system he quoted was 25% smaller than the previous (and not 25% cheaper) so I questioned whether or not it was adequate. I agreed to do the smaller install and it has just been a week since it was installed and seems to be working well but I wonder how it will work in cooler months. Ultimately, if they system works as they promise, I will be happy. I will post a follow up soon.

They were very careful, meticulous, and didn't harm the roof at all. They were great to work with and their price seems to be reasonable. They were very responsive, punctual, and professional. They were outstanding.

THE REPRESENTATIVE CAME OUT AND GAVE US A DETAILED EXPLANATION OF HOW THEIR PRODUCT WORKS. WE WERE VERY SATISFIED WITH SAVING MONEY AND HAVING A WARM POOL AT THE SAME TIME. WE ARE HAPPY WITH OUR DECISION.
