Head Lice Guru, Head Lice Removal Service

Kelly Crabtree is definitely THE headlice guru. We are so lucky that Kelly was available and came to our rescue. She meticulously combed us and thoroughly removed every remnant of a nit, leaving nothing behind. Because Kelly has such a warm and kind personality, my daughter and I both actually had a wonderful time conversing with her during the process. She had a magical way of making my six-year old daughter at ease about the whole thing. Kelly is also extremely knowledgeable and gave us helpful tips on how to avoid re-infection from the lice still circulating at our school. If we are so unfortunate to have the headlice hit our family again, we will definitely be calling on Kelly next time too . . .

I couldn't have asked for better! Kelly arrived on time and went to work immediately. My daughter has long, straight hair, which apparently head lice love, because they have lots of places to hide. Kelly set up shop in our kitchen with no fuss, was very clean and thorough, and chatted with me and my daughter the whole time. She checked me after my daughter, and then checked my husband. She clearly knows what she's doing, is great at the "this is no big deal, don't freak out" factor, and is very matter-of-fact about the whole thing, which is exactly what is needed. I highly recommend her, and will use her again if I need to. However, given her thoroughness, I don't think I will!

We had a terrific experience. Within 2 hours of calling Kelly, she came to our house. She inspected my other daughter and me as well. She talked us through her whole process and educated us about lice as she was ridding my daughter of her lice and nits (eggs). Fortunately, she was not affected too badly and she was able to go back to school by lunch after getting a final inspection from the school nurse. She also gave us useful advice for our girls and for our house, so we wouldn't have to panic. No chemicals were used and she used a systematic and thorough process of removing everything, from the nits to the lice.

I know that lice are a fact of life. I know that if you live in an urban area and your children play with other children, brush each other's hair, wear each other's clothes, have sleepovers...they will share more than friendship, they will share lice!

So when I found lice on my daughter, I jumped in the phone booth and jumped out in my supermom costume, went to the drug store, got 2 boxes of rid (that's what my mom did) and got to work! Hour after hour I calmly went from hair to hair, pulling off more lice than I thought could even fit in one head! After 7, yes, 7 hours, I faced the truth....the lice were winning.

That evening I started calling and emailing lice removal people. Of course I knew no one would answer the Sunday of Presidents day weekend, but I hoped to be able to leave a message somewhere.Imagine my surprise when Kelly, the owner of Head Lice Guru answered the phone and began talking me down off the ledge. "Stop combing, don't stuff everything in plastic bags, relax and just wait till I get there tomorrow and we'll manage it all then." I think it was my first exhale in 7 hours! I don't know why, but I believed her!

Because my daughter was asymptomatic, it's hard to know just how long she had lice (is it time to start feeling like a bad mother yet?) She separated fact from fiction while she separated hair after hair and deftly de-loused my daughter's hair using absolutely safe products. She was fabulous with my kids-she checked all of our heads, was reassuring, professional, and more thorough in 2+ hours than I was in 7!

I cannot recommend Kelly the Lice Guru highly enough. I'm actually looking forward to her returning in 4 days to recheck my daughter's head-she is so knowledge-able, easy to talk with, funny, calm. I could not do what she does, but I'm thrilled she does it! And BTW, forget about putting vinegar on your hair to loosen up the eggs, they can hold their breath for 2 hours!
