THE ROOF GUY

The Roof Guy (John Sheatz) just finished re-roofing part (the flat part) of my house yesterday. With all of the horror stories you hear about contractors, this was a very nice experience. I found John through a referral from a trusted general contractor who has used him for over 10 years - including for his own house. The company was very professional from day one. The communication was great and they showed up when they said they would or called when they had to change times. My overall impression is that they under-promised and over-delivered. I particularly liked that the installation crew cleaned up outside my house every night before they left for the day. They started the job several weeks before they said they would (before the winter rains!) and finished faster than I expected. Their prices were reasonable and cheaper than my other bids. It was more than I hoped to pay, but a fair price. I was initially put off by the one negative review on Angie's list but my general contractor reassured me that "John is a good guy." After my job was completed, I asked John, the owner, about the negative review. He said that he had done the repair job but had reccomended that the customer do a full re-roof. Because of his reccomendation for a full re-roof, John told the customer UP FRONT in writing that he would not give a guarantee on the work. She chose to do only the repair and then called him a year later and tried to pretend that he had given her a guarantee. I think her review is sour grapes. I received a 5 year guarantee, parts and labor. I found John and all of his crew easy to deal with and very professional. My roof passed city inspection with no problems and I have every confidence that if I do have any future problems, I will be able to count on John.

Owner, John, was responsive. Sent someone over to do the estimate. Was supposed to call before coming over so that I could be here, no call. Person he sent not the most professional. I accepted estimate because it was 1/2 the cost of another one I received. The person who performed the job, didn't check in when he started/finished. Work performed was sloppy and not thorough. Rained after the work was completed and still leaking in same areas. There is no guarantee of the work. I will have to bring in the first company (who is more professional and offers a 1-yr guarantee). Lesson learned!

This company was very concerned and helpful in fixing my roof. They had to make a new part of the roof and install it in the attic. The raccoons had destroyed it. Before fixing the roof, they made sure that all the raccoons were not in the attic. They were prompt, helpful and professional in their dealings with me. I was very pleased with their work.
