I called Warren at 10am Monday morning. He calls me back. We went over the scope of the job (replace a front gate lock, adjust the entry-way garage door). He asks for a picture of the front gate lock. My wife text's him a picture, showing him what he was getting into before he shows up (be sure and bring a suitable replacement lock!). Warren then comes over, takes care of a nasty front gate lock removal and replace. He fixes my entry way garage door - which has been sagging for years. And for good measure realigns another front gate latch on his way out. Done! Same day! Nothing but net! Just amazing service and professionalism!
Response from The Door Doctor
"Thanks, [Member Name Removed]. I really appreciate you few people who take time to write down the truths about a worker. Also, please know that your wife, [Removed Member Name], was an angel to work with. She knew how to direct me with the job particulars, then she left me alone with the attitude that I was a professional and knew how to do the work. Many customers will stand around watching the whole time you are performing...what you do every day. But then, maybe they are just curious. Give me a call if the work I did fails in any way, as I will come back at no extra cost to you. Take care and be safe. Warren Semmes, The Door Doctor [Removed hyperlink]"

I used the ?Door Doctor? to install a threshold in my side garage door and to reverse the hinges on a bathroom door.  I would recommend him for any outside work, but with reservations for any work inside the house.
The metal threshold on the garage door was supposed to be antique gold and instead was bright gold which stands out from all of the other hardware.  He did show it to me in the package and unfortunately I thought it was antiqued gold as that is what we had discussed.  It was not until it was fully installed that I realized the error.  This was my own fault for not checking more closely. He did a good job on the installation and there is no water leaking under the door despite our heavy rain.
The bathroom door project did not go as well as I would have hoped.  He did not cover any of the floor area where he was working and as a result the floor trim under the door got several deep scratches and there was white paint in several places on the laminate floor that had to be scraped off.  These were caused when he laid the white door directly on the floor to work on it.  He did not bring any caulking to fill the hinge and lock holes, but fortunately I had some on hand.  However, he suggested that I fill the holes myself rather than pay his hourly rate to complete the job.  I felt he could have completed the work by filling the holes on the framing of the bathroom door for the price he charged.
I would recommend the ?Door Doctor? only if you get a written estimate before the work commences detailing the work to be done, parts to be provided (including color) and a set price. I have to assume he has done both of these jobs many, many times over the years and could have given a set price after looking at both areas..
He quoted what I felt were reasonable prices for the jobs when we spoke on the phone, but what he did not tell me was that he charged by the hour ($85.00) with a $45.00 trip charge on top of the hourly rate.  My total bill was $477.50 of which $50 was
for parts.  He spent 4.5 hours on the two jobs.
The bathroom door works fine, and if you are willing to protect the flooring around the project and clean up after the work is done I am sure he would be fine working on inside doors.

Warren reset the hinges on a very large and heavy front door to stop it from sticking. The door had been almost impossible to open and close, and after Warren worked on it, now it glides as smoothly as I could possibly hope. He even worked on the lock to make sure that it was correctly set after the work on the door. His price was exactly as quoted. He arrived exactly when he said he would and was extremely professional. I would definitely use him again.

He came out and looked at the spot for the closet doors for two rooms.  He recommended ones that we should order.  He picked them up and installed them.  We are enjoying the doors.  It took about two hours to install the doors.  There was one guy that came out to install them.  He showed up when he said he would.

Mr. Warren Semmes... the creator, owner and sole employee of this nifty service.. arrived exactly when he said he would...to the minute.  He has a (?) uniform that matches his clean late model dedicated decorated van.  He came  to give us an estimate, but was also ready to go to work.  He was congenial and professional.  I showed him around and he offered to repair my doors right then and there.
He went right to work, whistling cheerfully. He would swing a door once or twice and see exactly what the problem was. Three had been incompletely installed by the contractor many years before.  He had an assortment of tools  which he was  proud to tell me about.  He had  small routers and power chisels.   He had some of his own templates for the cut outs to which he had his router pre set.  His tools were fine cabinet maker grade. He used 1/8"  hardwood dowel to fill screw holes instead of lesser quality fillers or matchsticks.  He had a variety of door shoes... the lower plates... and an assortment of weather stripping and corner seals.  More importantly he commented  that he was confident he could fix my doors properly because  he'd already  made all the mistakes and, therefore could avoid them.
I had expected he would be taking some of the doors off, and, in one instance, opening up the casing to repair the frame.  He didn't have to do any of that.  He did it all swiftly and completely.  He cleaned up completely and made certain I was satisfied before he presented a detailed invoice.
I was delighted with the work of a specialist in this matter.  Perhaps others might have eventually done this work cheaper, but I'm confident they wouldn't do it better or more efficiently!
Response from The Door Doctor
"Thanks again, {removed member name}. I wrote a long thank-you note, but hit one of my buttons wrong on the computer--and away everything went. Who knows why we can never get back to what we were in the middle of on today's computers. Anyway, thank you for the review. Warren, The Door Doctor, Owner/Contractor"
