RS Locksmith

OUr key got broken off on the deadbolt on the front door. Unfortunately it's the only way in. After hours of trying to break into our house without damage, we finally did a google search and called the first people on the list. Big mistake. I should have known I was in trouble when the guy that called me wouldn't quote a price. Asked him what kind of price I'm looking at if he had to drill the deadbolt, but he just gave me the run around about he had to look at the lock first, and it depended on many factors. He would only tell me that there is a 19.00 service fee to come out. Sounded reasonable to me, how much more could it be than that? Even at 10 times the service fee, that's $190. Well he comes out, and the first thing he asks is how long I've been out there. After I tell him, he looks at the lock for about a minute, goes behind his car for about 10 minutes, and comes out to an estimate of $300.00. Say what?? Unfortunately by this time I'm so tired, and just want to get into my home and go to sleep. So I said go ahead, and I regret it. My fault for agreeing to such a high price? Of course. But it was either that, or damage my house, or try to get a second opinion, none of which I had any desire whatsoever to do. On the plus side, he did get me in my house, and replaced the drilled deadbolt with a new one. It didn't particularly look like it took a lot of skill to me, just a drill and some muscle. But when he replaced the deadbolt, it was not the same color as the rest of the door hardware. When I asked him about the color he went back to check to see if there was one with the same color and came back and said no (I very much doubt he actually checked. He never had the same color deadbolt). And finally he couldn't key the deadbolt to my existing key. He did say he would give me a set of keys for free, that they normally are $15.00 per key. What key in the world is priced at $15.00 per key?? I had to force him to take credit card, not cash and it took almost 15 minutes for him to run the credit card, what is up with that?? Now, the next morning I have complete buyers remorse. I look at the bill and with my now clear head from a nights sleep I'm insulted. At $300.00 I would have been better off smashing a window or cutting through the drywall in my garage. I completely feel that this company took advantage of me and my situation. I called the company to tell them they should give me a discount, this is way to high. I only got the receptionist who gave me the same baloney about "It all depends on the lock and what type it is" and all of that. She would however forward my info on to a manager who would be in touch, and of couse, no contact. So I sent an email talking about the problems I have with this bill. Again, no contact. So if you're in an emergency, and need the services of a locksmith, look elsewhere. These guys will take advantage of you, get your money and run.
