They did a good job but expensive.
Initially, things seemed fine. He found a corroded fitting on our hot water heater, and replaced it, but that ultimately did nothing to fixing the low flow issues. Then he went under the house and saw that we had galvanized pipes. Well, I knew that, but apparently he decided in that moment that all issues were related to that, and told us that it would be $6500 minimum to replumb the house, and that the warranty company doesn't cover that. He didn't get them on the phone, he didn't have someone contact me to discuss options of what we might be able to do. He did replace the wax ring on the toilet, and screw in the handle better on the shower, as well as changing out the corroded fixture on the hot water heater, so I suppose that he technically did what he was obligated to do, but not one step more, and certainly nothing to indicate that his company would want to assist me in actually SOLVING the plumbing problems I'm having.
I had suggested doing portions as I can afford them. (one bathroom at a time, or doing just the hot water side or something and also NOT using copper, but ipex, which is much more flexible and easier to work with in a crawl space) As I wrote him the check for the service call, he mentioned that his supervisor said it would be $4500 to do just the hot side, and then pretty much ran out of my house. I would think that I'm certainly not the only person who doesn't have 6 or 7 thousand dollars available at a moment's notice to do the whole plumbing job, and that a $2000 job would still be worthwhile enough to help me work on the best way to put the money I do have to work now, while I go about trying to raise more money, or save up more.
They just clearly were not interested at all in doing anything more than a $55 service call, and performing only the most basic steps to complete their contractual obligations, rather than helping me find ways to solve my problems. He also left the contents from under my bathroom sink all over the bathroom, rather than putting them back.
Ben was a nice enough guy, but the minute he saw the galvanized pipes, all bets were off unless I could come up with big bucks. I really wished he would have contacted the warranty company with me, so he could explain what was going on to them, and then have them try to tell me why they don't cover any of it, or find out if there are any parts they might cover. But, he didn't. He just said I could call them, but it's really hard for me to have a conversation with them when I can't really tell them what the problem is.
When he told me he wasn't even going to really do anything about the sink that has no cold water, I told him that I felt he was taking the easy way out by not even trying. He did then go in and see if there was a block in the angle stop (there wasn't) but if that wasn't it, there wasn't any more he would do. I still think that's a cop-out to day that the problem has to be from the galvanized, if there was a way to flush out that pipe, or turn the house water back on for a second or 2 while disconnected to see if that would push the blockage through the larger opening but he wouldn't do that either.
He wasn't impolite, he was totally respectful at all times, but I was very disappointed that he made no effort at all to see if there was some portion of the work that his company COULD do with the budget I have right now towards the repair.
