Petersen Dean Roofing & Solar

I wish there was a way to leave negative stars. We had first used Petersen Dean in July of 2016 to install a 36-panel solar system. We were very impressed with their work. Our sales rep (Doug Hein) was communicative and prompt. For the most part, the project went off without a hitch. The only item was the need to replace the main panel with a “center-fed” panel; a $4,000 requirement which couldn’t be explained as our existing 200-amp panel was only a year old. But since Petersen Dean wouldn’t touch our system without the new panel, we went ahead with the replacement. Fast forward to May of 2017 when we had some questions on our panel configurations. When I contacted Petersen Dean and asked for Doug, I was told he was no longer with the company. The salesperson they gave us as a replacment had to be one of the most smarmy, elusive and arrogant individuals it has ever been my displeasure to meet. He would not give us a straight answer on any question. And when I called the main office twice to get another salesperson, they never called us back. Today, we’re in the process of putting a solar system on a house we’re renovating. In the hopes of using Petersen Dean, I called them to make sure we’re installing the correct electrical panel. The 500 lb. gorilla who took my call couldn’t answer my panel questions, and refused to forward me to someone who could. He told me until the house was fully built, he couldn’t tell me what panel would be a best fit. I told him I didn’t want to put in the wrong panel only to be told 9 months from now that it had to be replaced. He told me there was nothing he could do, and proceeded to hang up on me. Petersen Dean: Thank you for slimming down my vendor options by one. It amazes me that you would want to walk away from a $50,000 cash solar installation (40+ panels), and a potential new roof installation as well. But more power to you. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Just as we criticize for bad, it is equally important to applaud for goodness. We initially wrote a review on June 19, 2017, for the unfortunate activities that occurred up to that particular time. Since then JP, Director of Operations, corrected the issues that were outlined in the previous review. We thank him for his expedient response, professionalism, and for upholding his commitment to correcting the problems. The solar panels are very nice and close to the roof, which makes it hard to see. We are happy that our project is complete and are now contributing to clean energy. Despite the issues that occurred, I would still recommend PetersenDean Roofing & Solar for solar and roofing projects.
