"Dear Mr. H, The project you are referring to is not a Home advisor related project, nonetheless it is a McCormack Roofing HOA project. McCormack Roofing did not invoice or charge homeowners for anything, all charges were for the HOA and all payments were from the HOA to McCormack, no payments were received from homeowners. The charges you are referring to are for the replacement of rotted wood under the roofs prior to installing the new roof system. As per building (and ethics) codes, all rotted wood must be replaced on the roofs prior to installation of new roof. A letter from the HOA to homeowners was sent to all homeowners prior to the start of the project describing how these charges would occur and detailing the price per linear ft as per CCR&R regulation in your association, homeowners are responsible for the wood replacement at their homes. McCormack roofing numbered and took pictures of every single piece of wood that was replaced and sent to Management along with the invoices for the HOA. The project was supervised by a third-party Consultant, an architect hired by the HOA, he inspected every roof before, during and after the new roof system was installed and supervised all the wood replacement to make sure all wood that was replaced needed to be replaced & also that all wood needing replacement was replaced. The city of Dana Point inspected the roof before & after, one of the things they inspect for is that all rotted wood is replaced prior to installing the roof, otherwise consent to install would be denied by the city. GAF also sent an inspector to inspect every roof in the association to guarantee the quality of the installation & certify the GAF warranty. In summary, the extra charges you are referring to are normal charges during a re-roof project. The association, not McCormack, charged the homeowners as they are responsible for the wood on their homes, the wood had not been replaced or treated in years therefore there was a lot of dry rot & termite damage. Some homeowners had no charges, while some paid a couple of hundred dollars, those with higher charges was due to the amount of bad wood on their homes. Any roofer would've & should've done the same as it would be wrong, unethical, & unprofessional to leave the bad wood on your homes. Regarding your comment to sloppy work and clean up, the roofs are certified & under warranty from GAF the biggest manufacturer of shingle roofs in the US whom wouldn't warrant sloppy work, also inspected & passed by city inspector as well as per the architect supervising the project. The old roofs that were torn off had 2 layers of shingle & thousands of nails, we run the magnet though each building & grass area, 4 times a day every day, during the duration of the project, all areas were cleaned daily and left completely clean daily prior to crews leaving. Two foreman were on site daily during all working hours , as well as the tear off foreman who was there every day of the tear off, a construction manager was on site every day, as well as two managers who took turns to make sure there was a manager on site at all working hours daily. The architect supervised the work & cleaning weekly and was there on every tear off. Tearoffs are dirty work especially on roofs with several layers of asphalt shingle, we made sure to clean everything, each crew constantly cleaned during the project, as well. Perhaps if you had been onsite during the project you would have seen all this, but you sold your house 2 years ago, before the roofing project started so you didn't any first hand experience with the work and would not know any of the details I just spoke about. Please take down this review as you are not a member of the association where the project took place. Also, the project isn?t related to this platform. If you do not remove this defamatory review we will have our attorney contact you."
