While prepping for a kitchen remodel, we removed the popcorn ceiling from our kitchen, living room, and entryway. We had Jason come in to patch and texture coat the ceiling. He and his crew sanded everything down, patched holes in the drywall and even carried the texture coat into the hallway so the effect would be seamless. Before doing the work, Jason explained in detail the reason for doing a texture coat, especially on the ceiling of an older home. If you just tape and mud the old drywall you are likely to see a lot of imperfections in the drywall itself in the form of shadows where the drywall doesn't hang evenly from the joists. There's nothing wrong with the drywall, it's just become a bit misshapen over the years. A smooth hand texture breaks up the shadows and, once painted, doesn't appear to be any texture at all. It simply hides all the imperfections in the drywall leaving the ceiling with a beautiful, clean look. This is not a plaster coat or an orange peal; it is just a hand texture. A light coat of mud is applied and scraped off. Jason got the work done in a day. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly an expert craftsman. He's also a great guy who engenders trust and confidence. When he and his crew left after completing the job you never would have known that they had been there as they completely cleaned up after themselves.
