Horizon Roofing

Our experience with our roof replacement from Horizon Roofing has been a nightmare for us. Frank, the owner, gained our trust initially, but now we regret hiring him. It took Frank over 90 days from the time he completed our roof to provide us all the necessary lien releases for the job, including a release for a 50% progress payment we had voluntarily made, and to finally show up for a scheduled appointment to address workmanship issues. During this period, we still owed Frank for the remaining 50% of the contract, and there were times when we wondered if something happened to Frank and he was unable to conduct business, or if he thought it was a hassle to provide the lien releases and address the workmanship issues and decided to walk away and leave the contract hanging. Frank was finally able to actually show up for one of his appointments to address the damage he caused to our house, changes he made to the material specifications, and workmanship issues, but he refused to take responsibility for anything and everything, and he addressed each issue by unleashing a series of insults directed towards me and about our house. His language and behavior were concerning, and my wife is not comfortable having Frank at the house. Frank also told us that he is refusing to provide the lien releases because he is mad. Frank has now become a nightmare for us because we were not going to even consider making another payment without the lien releases he refused to provide. Three days later Frank sends a lien release that was worth something, but it wasn’t what we agreed to, and the amount was wrong. Four days after that he sent us a notice stating he had filed a mechanics lien on our house. An attorney told us Frank had filed an invalid lien, and if he doesn’t remove it, we will need an attorney. Frank’s behavior and business conduct scare us, and we did not trust him to remove an invalid lien, so we reluctantly paid Frank the balance to make sure the lien gets removed, and we filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board over his workmanship issues. We had a much larger roof replaced on our last house by a different roofer, and we had zero problems or additional expenses to correct problems. We wish we had hired a different roofer for this roof.

Excellent! The job is now complete and I am totally pleased. Frank responded promptly to my request for a quote. He was on time for the quote and to do the job. He is very professional, explains his recommendations for the job, and is approachable. The roof looks fantastic. He and his crew re-sealed vent and pipe flashings as needed. Clean up was excellent. He gave me a written guaranty on the work completed. I would use him again without hesitation.
