Golden Land Construction

I hired this Mexican contractor with a license for home remodeling and it turned out to be a nightmare. Obviously they lack of
organization and everything was chaotic and unprofessional. They never planned ahead. The only exceptions when they were on time were the days they collected money from me. 

The contractor promised 2 weeks to complete the whole project, but it took them more than 2 months. During this process, I had to make numerous calls and emails to quarrel with them and urge them to come to work. Their workers were very lazy, stupid, unprofessional, and did not know what they were doing. While they were working, they made a mess in my property. They put their dirty tools directly on my new carpet and tiles without using any plastic cover. They left numerous stains, scratches, and prints on carpets, tiles, and walls. I found it difficult to live in my own home because of the dust, bad smell and mess they made. I had to live in hotels and later in a rented apartment for several months. It cost me thousands of dollars to live outside.

After they finally finished the job, a lot of problems cropped up: pipes are leaking, faucets get loose, bath tubs
do not function well, low water pressure, dim lights, etc. I asked them to repair their work because they promised several years? warranty in our contract, but they were reluctant to come and found all kinds of excuses to delay.  I threatened that I will sue them and they finally came. They came two times and still could not solve the problems. I had to make numerous calls and emails again, but they said that they were still figuring the ways to solve the problems. I have never seen such a stupid contractor who know nothing about their own job. I begin to doubt how they got a license!  Or perhaps their license was a fake one! In desperation,  I hired Coastline Plumbing (with stellar evaluation) through Angie's List, and their technicians solved the problems within one hour once and for all-a job beautifully done.

There was internal conflict in the company. Their company is family based, but they hire some technicians outside. They refused to pay their workers on time. When the project was almost done, a worker told me that Betor did not pay him a penny, saying that the homeowner (that's me) did not pay him. I was outrageous because I paid every installation of money on time, no matter how bad their job was.

In addition, they always ask for hidden money during the process. The price that they gave me in the beginning was not true at all. Communication with the son Hector is better, but with his father Betor is rather difficult because of his personality and broken English.    

Never hire this contractor! It will be the beginning of your nightmare! You will waste a lot of time and energy with them.
