cabinet refacing

Description of Work: Gary was hired to build a linen cabinet for us after our previous one was damaged due to a water leak. Gary was polite upon meeting him, but when it came to actually doing the job he was hired for he failed miserably. He was hired to build and install a custom linen cabinet base to match the existing upper linen cabinets. He arrived and took measurements, saw the existing cabinets on top and even took measurements of the top that was previously on the old cabinets for reference. I expressed how everything in our home had to be custom made because everything fit to each area it’s been placed in. He ACTED as though he understood. I also showed him the existing cabinets and the face of the old cabinets that I was still going to use so everything would match. I was under the impression these would be built with quality wood material and instead he showed up with boxes of pre-made KITCHEN cabinets. Not only were they too short that my existing doors wouldn’t fit, but the width of the cabinet was much shorter than the existing cabinets on top. A Mickey Mouse job to say the least! The cabinets he wanted to install were of poor quality and he does not actually build anything. He sends someone to do the work for him. Be aware he is just a shopper and you can purchase these cabinets from any surplus store in the area AND FOR A WHOLE LOT LESS THAN WHAT HE CHARGED! When I expressed to him I was not happy he just walked out! I called him and he sent me straight to voicemail. He text me that he could not pay me back because he COULDN’T RETURN THE CABINETS!! I paid him $600 of the $1,200 he was charging and he was asking me for the rest of the money the day after I gave him $600 and before even starting/completing the job! He did not complete the job nor deliver the LINEN cabinet I needed. I now have two plastic looking kitchen cabinets sitting in my hall and out $600. DO NOT HIRE THE COUNTERMAN!!!!!!

+ 0 moreWhile many pros told us they only do complete cabinet refacing, Josiah was willing to repair our existing drawers and cabinets, and they now work beautifully. He is prompt, knowledgeable, considerate, and cleans up meticulously. He truly did a fantastic job with our cabinets and we would absolutely hire him again.
Description of Work: All drawers needed new guides and cabinets needed new hinges
