ADT Security Services

We needed a new alarm system in our home; ADT came out, gave us an estimate, and then performed the work. We were impressed with the professional installers, as well as the system and what it provides.

They lied to us about the cameras just to make a sale. They tell you it's extremely cheap labor to hire some one to do it for you. The reality is it cost a lot to install these cameras, it's not just a plug in kind of thing. They will tell you what you want to hear. I do not recommend them at all!!

We have on several occasions accidentally set off false alarms and called ADT's emergency number to advise them it was a false alarm.  We were on hold for 6 - 8 minutes before talking to a live representative.  By then the police had arrived.  Our city charges $150 for false alarms (1st one is free).

The installation went fine.  The workers were competent, worked quickly and explained everything. 
But, the company's attitude toward us as long term customers was certainly not positive. We had had ADT for over 15 years and needed to have more update equipment installed.  Because we were not new customers and even though we had never needed to use their services, ADT charged approximately $800.00!   However, new customers get free equipment and also free installation (I think).  Charging us a couple of hundred dollars would have been okay, but charging us full price was insulting.  Because we were about to leave home for a while, we had them do the job.  However, there was no smile on our faces.
Incidentally, we did not get the ADT service and equipment through Angie's List; we dealt directly with an ADT approved business.  Because I was asked by Angie's List to review ADT, I decided to do so.

They're quick to respond.

They make appointments and seldom show up on time and on three occasions not at all. Their customer service and attention to detail is terrible. We have been with them on  at three year contract that expires in three weeks.. Yeah!!

Two knowledgeable ADT reps c installed the system in about two hours. System has worked flawlessly since then.

They always call me. I used some other company and then ADT Fair Oaks kind of bought them, so I kind of inherited this company. They did not install the system; they are just monitoring it now at this point. They just called me last night after I accidentally set off my alarm and they called me right away. Their response time is wonderful. They are working with Sacramento county sheriff. I am synced in with their services. I have a monthly billing with them. Fortunately, I have not had to use them for a burglary or somebody breaking in, but as I said earlier I have accidentally set off my on alarm and they called me within seconds of my alarm going off as I found my phone ringing and it was them. They are pretty fast. If they do not find me at my home number the next call is to my cellphone. If they cannot get me on my cellphone then they call my backup person and if they cannot reach them then they call the sheriff. One time my alarm went off shortly after I left the house and I had just run over to the store and I left my cellphone at home, I was gone for about 15 minutes and when I came back I had the sheriff in my driveway. Their people with whom I have come in contact with have been pretty good. The people who are monitoring the alarm have always done what they are supposed to do. They have always communicated well over the phone with me. Their price is about average.

Everything went smoothly, upgrade went well. Very happy with the system. I'd highly recommend them.

ADT are fine. I don't like or dislike them, they haven't caused me any problems.

They had to make four trips to my home over a three month period because parts issues. I am really not sure why they had such issues, but I had a higher expectation from one of the leading home security firms in the US. Once they finally got it installed it works great and I love the entire Pulse security system. Mi would give the system an A on the review scale.

Very frustrating experience; The tech arrived in an old beat-up car and no uniform, (first warning). The house was already pre-wired for an alarm system which they chose to ignore and put up sensors that you stick to the wall, the control panel( I found out later) was out-dated; one of their older models they don't use any longer. They system didn't work properly and it took several service calls to fix it and they even moved the control panel to a new location which left the wall damaged. I think I realized the biggest problem with ADT is that I called a dealer (not realizing it at the time) when I should have only dealt with corporate. Corporate was very helpful but I was already turned off. If you use ADT be sure to call the Corporate office and not a dealer; if the tech doesn't arrive in an ADT vehicle send them away.

No service was performed I plan on changing companies.

Richard is professional, punctual, good communicator, and goes out of his way to get the job done properly.  I would highly recommend them.

I have a two year contract with them. My overall experience with them was excellent. I've had a couple of issues with the quality of the system messing up.

Overall it was not a terrible experience. I went with ADT because they have been around for many years and had the technology I was looking for in a security company. The installation price was high. And they do not do home installation without a two year agreement. I don't think the installation was very professional. I think there is more to running wires and giving the customer the best experience.

They came out and told me what was wrong with my alarm system. I had to pay a $25 fee for them to come out and do that. It was fine. They got it done quickly and they were good.
