Extremly disappointed!!! On 4/11/2011 I called " Lopez Tree Services" at about 8:30am and left a message about getting a quote for the removal of 3 tree stumps from my back yard. At about 9:22am I received a call back and spoke with Arturo about the work. He stated to me that he had an appointment in the neighboring city of La Canada and then another appointment in my area so he could stop by afterwards to give me an estimate of the work. He told me he would be there from 6:30 - 7:00 pm. He later calls me at 6:37pm saying that he was running behind and would be able to make it from 7:00 - 7:30pm. I felt that would be too late because it would be too dark. He insisted that there would be plenty of light and he would be there. Sure enough 7:30 comes and goes and nothing. At 7:47 he finally calls saying he is at the side of my house . It was already dark and I stated to him, "I told you it would be too dark". Arturo responded by laughing. Unfortunatly I did not find this at all humorous or funny. I had been waiting for him to arrive all this time and even postponed having dinner with my family as a result. In addition, earlier, I had even left my dad who is very ill at the hospital, before I really wanted to leave, just so I could be home by 6:30 p.m. The fact that he didn't call me when he was running late for the second time was indicative to me of his lack of professionalism. In fact, his whole lack of regard for the value of my time was totally inappropriate and unprofessional. I definitely would NOT recommend Lopez Tree Services to anyone.

We are very pleased with the work that Lopez Tree service performed on our tree. All the cuts were done properly and the tree structure was balanced and natural looking. Clean up was impeccable. It was like magic!

It went like clockwork. From the estimate and service, to be performed (thoroughly presented) to all necessary calls setting up the work schedule to prompt arrival and outstanding work. Impressive firm start to finish.

Contractor was on time to submit bid and perform job. Price was fair, and work done is to a very high standard. Arturo provides excellent service. I will have him do a much larger job in a few months.

I LOVE LOPEZ TREE SERVICE. Arturo Lopez was not only extremely professional, but also actually knew his trees and plants!!! He came on time for both the estimate and on the day of service. He and his crew were fast, neat, and worked tirelessly to get the job done as quickly as possible. I highly recommend this company. You won't be disappointed. I promise.

Excellent. They were quick, quiet and careful. Used ropes and not spikes to climb so there was no damage. The trees look balanced and happy. Arturo Jr. and Sr. were very involved and on site.

I called Lopez Tree Service on a Tuesday and left a message. Arturo called me back almost immediately. He asked me where I live; he said he had a job very close by on Thursday, so he could come by at 10:00 a.m. to give me an estimate. I said that was fine. On Thursday morning, he left me a phone message asking if he could stop by a little early, which I said was OK. He explained everything about the tree, why it needed the service, and what they would do. He gave me the written estimate of $550, explaining everything on the written estimate. He said that if I wanted to go ahead with the job, they could do it the same day, since they were in the area. This sounded like a good price to me for a professional arborist and such a big job, and I was impressed by Arturo's professionalism and friendliness, so I decided to go ahead with it. They came back within an hour. The job took somewhat longer than Arturo had thought, but this was because so many branches were crossing each other and had to be de-tangled before cutting. They cleaned up everything thoroughly as promised. Arturo did not require any payment until the job was finished.

A wind storm in my area on the night of December 29 caused a eucalyptus tree (approximately 40-50 feet high) to fall to the ground that night. The tree came to rest across a wall separating my backyard from my neighbor's, with the top portion of the tree resting on my neighbor's roof. I was not at home at the time, and did not become aware of the incident until the following afternoon. I called Lopez Tree Service that evening and left a message, and was pleasantly surprised to get a call back the same evening. Arturo offered to come to my home on Jan 1 (!) to assess the scope of the job and provide an estimate. Given that it was a holiday weekend and that I'm sure there was a big demand for his services following the storm, I was grateful for how soon he came by. As the treetop came to rest on my neighbor's roof (the roof was not damaged, fortunately), removing the tree seemed like a fairly delicate operation, but Arturo explained how it could be done without causing any damage. He and his crew came on Jan 5, and did an expert job of removing the tree as promised. The tree stump was left in place because of the difficulties associated with removing it - situated on a hillside - although he did indicate it could be removed for an additional $700. (I declined since that cost was not covered by my insurance policy). The tree was removed and transported away, and my backyard and driveway were cleaned up. The entire job took approximately 8-9 hours. All in all, I was happy with the quality of the work and Arturo's helpfulness and professionalism. -Richard

We hired Lopez based on an Angie's List recommendation. Arturo showed up at the appointed time for our estimate, gave it to us in writing (which we signed on the spot), then scheduled tree trimming/thinning on our four huge fruit trees and one smaller olive tree later in the week. He and his crew showed up on time, did a fantastic job trimming the trees professionally and with care, cleaned everything up and were gone in a couple of hours, no muss, no fuss, no mess, no noise and no complaints. The trees look fantastic: Healthy, open, tidy, beautiful. One tree that had been hanging over an eave of our house now stands away from it. Arturo even advised us to consult a specialist for one tree that looked like it might have a disease issue.

Great job done. Really nice guy. We will definitely be using him again to cut the oak trees in the summer.

Arturo arrived promptly when he came for the estimate. He gave expert advice as far as the time of year to trim different trees. The work was done on the day we scheduled and everything was done exactly as requested. Clean up was excellent. Will definitely have him back in the summertime to do additional tree service we discussed .

Arturo came to my house within an hour of my first contact with him. He went over what would need to be done in detail and gave me an estimate with a couple of options. I called him a few days later to schedule the work. He arrived on time two days after that, did the work exactly as promised, was very thorough about clean up, and the cost was exactly as estimated. I am unsure how the cost rates against competitors as I did not seek additional estimates.

I am very pleased with the work completed and would highly recommend Lopez Tree Service. This is a family owned business and they take great pride in their work and professionalism. Arturo Lopez was very clear and descriptive of the work that they would perform and followed through on their word. The trees look great - very well manicured and shaped (not chopped). The crew was a total of 4 and they were very efficient and cleaned up after themselves. Finally, we felt the price was very competitive especially for the quality of service provided. We will definitely use them in the future.

I talked to Arturo, I think it was, who came when he said he would to look at the tree in question that needed pruning, he told me a quote and we arranged on the phone that within the week he would come back to do the work. I never heard back.

I thought everything went efficiently with no surprises.

I paid more to this professional company to avoid that "butchered" look that poorly trained tree trimmers give trees. Arturo is a certified arborist so he understands how to maintain the health and appearance of the tree.

Great. He showed up on time for the estimate, was knowledgable and offered suggestions modifying what I asked for due to the risk to the individual trees. They showed up on time to work even though it was raining. They did a beautiful job of trimming and cleaning up after..the thinning was done very artistically. Absolutely I will hire them again next year to do the other trees

They were fair priced. They were very pleasant and professional .

The arranged date of service was set for 7-7:30 am, the company (a family business) arrived on time and did a wonderful job, cleaned up everything and also made sure that gutters were clean. Excellent service and really nice people!

Arturo, the owner, comes out to all jobs and called me right at the beginning of the work week, making it out for an estimate within a couple of hours. He is very knowledgeable as an arborist, easily identifying all my shrubbery, and recommending what to do with my fruit tree to help it bear the best fruit (his recommendations matched that which I already received from a trusted source, so I know that Arturo is on the up and up). For the areas I asked him to uproot, he was very careful and conscious of any piping and also leveled off and smoothed the ground over (a previous gardener had dug up the roots poorly and never smoothed the soil over so Arturo's conscientiousness is appreciated). Arturo proved to be very straightforward, honest, and down to earth. I got a couple of other quotes, and his was clearly the lowest. I only gave him a B on punctuality because he was a bit late for both the estimate and the actual job, but I know he had quite a bit of traffic to battle through. That portion of the grade is NOT a criticism, only honest feedback for other Angie's List members. All in all, I will call Arturo first in the future for any other tree service and would recommend him to any of my neighbors or friends. If you are in need of some tree service, I believe you can hire Lopez Tree Service with every confidence that they will do the job well and give you a very fair, honest price.

The job was started on Monday, 10/18/2010, but rain interrupted the job. The crew came back on 10/23/2010 and completed the job to my complete satisfaction. I would use Lopez Tree Service again and recommend them for any tree trimming job.

I had a good experience on Lopez Tree Service. The owner is a licensed arborist and he was able to tell me a lot about my trees. He came with his crew to give an estimate. He seemed eager and happy to do the work. The price was right and I got a lot out of it.

Arturo Lopez, the manager, showed up on time for his estitmate. He showed me his license, his workers' comp insurance policy, and his arborist card. As we walked around my property he explained exactly what he would do and how he would do it. I had 4 different estimates (all from tree services listed on Angieslist). His was not the lowest, but I liked his professionalism and I gave him the job. He showed up on time for the work. He stayed with the crew and worked with them. I never saw men work so hard and without breaking. And the temperature that day was near a 100 degrees. They did not talk loudly and they did not bring a radio. When they were done, they had completed the tasks and cleaned up every scrap. Now my trees look great ! I am completely satisfied and I know I made the right choice in choosing Lopez Tree Service. One thing I would like to add. While grinding out the large stump with their machine, it hit a pipe for my sprinkler system. Arturo showed me the broken pipe. He repaired it himself. I was very pleased with his honesty and his preparedness.
