Animal Grooming
racI have used this service several times over the past six or seven years for my two dogs. I feel confident when I leave my dogs that they will be in a pleasant, non-caged, environment. When originally looking for boarding I was dismayed that many of the better known facilities charge up to $8 for each "out of kennel" experience - possibly more, as I have not checked costs in several years. The facility is very large - several acres - fenced - includes a waterfall and pond in which I usually observe at least one water dog cooling off in the mid-day sun. Dogs, in small groups, sleep in secured "cabins" which include sofas and mattresses. The place is "rustic", clean and safe.
I don't imagine owners of small dogs would find it as attractive as those of us with average to large dogs due to the "free play" atmosphere where most (if not all) of the dogs are free to roam at will from morning to bedtime.
The drive is a chore, however. It takes a good 40 minutes to get there from La Mesa. After one reaches Alpine the drive is still several winding miles - including a few on unpaved roads. But it is scenic - and knowing that my dogs are in such a dog-friendly environment makes it worth the drive and the cost.
