Signed a contract for 4600 to install wood flooring. He found a small crack in the slab foundation. Told him that I'd need to have a price to fix it before he started any work. I came back from grocery shopping to find that he was using a jackhammer on the small (under 1/4" wide) crack. He had opened the floor 18" and continued to jackhammer the floor although I had asked him to stop. I ended up with a 10 ft long whole, 18" wide and around 8" deep. He never did tell me how much it would cost even though I kept on asking him. His only reply was that it would be "NOT MUCH."After he finished laying the floor he came back with his FINAL INVOICE. He had added $1198.00 to the contract. I told him that I had never signed for the flooring work, nor had I had an agreement with him regarding the price. He became threatening and asked me how much I did have. I gave him $300 extra and told him that was all I had -- nothing more. He cashed both the last payment and the $300 check, then a few days later came to my door shouting at me for the rest of his money. Then after I complained to the BBB he called me and said that he was putting a mechanic's lien on my property.I only wish that I would have been able to speak with a prior client before allowing him to do any work for me. Right now he is suing me in small claims. He left lots of gaps along the floor edges of over 3/4" - in one case it is 2.5". I cannot find another contractor to correct the appalling work that this company did.
