Michael did a great job of removing the locks and then replaced the locks with one I had purchased at Home Depot. Michael made some adjustments to make sure it fit properly and the door closed well and locked. Upon completing the service, it was determined that there were no keys in the package containing the newly purchased locks, so Michael gladly created two keys for me at no extra charge.
The entire job was about 1 hour and it was a high quality removal and installation. I would gladly refer Michael to anyone needing a quality locksmith.
We made an appointment for that afternoon. In the meanwhile, I checked other doors and locks that's how I discovered I needed him to look at the second door jam lock. I also identified what I thought were loose doorknobs on two other doors. [Michael explained that this was the normal 'play' for the knobs.]
When he arrived, I showed him the door to be re-keyed, he told me he would be able to re-key it at a lower cost [which included two keys for that door] because of the method he was planning to use.
Michael lubricated all the locks on the various doors, which was much appreciated.
I asked for several business cards, as the neighbors share service providers they have used and would recommend.
I certainly would used Aliso Viejo Locksmith in the future if the need arises.
existing one that had gotten a little... "wonky". The plan was to also
have the front and back gates and garage door re-keyed to match the new
Schlage lockset. I called Aliso Viejo Locksmith and Mike gave me a
quote up front on the phone as to what everything would be and I made
the appointment to have him come out. Once he got here, he informed me
that the type of key used by the Schlage set would not be compatible
with the key needed of the other locks. Not only that, but what I
hadn't realized was that because the front and back gates were keyed on
both sides I was looking at possibly 5 rekeys, not 3. Mike gave me the
names of a couple of other brands of locksets I could purchase that
would be compatible with my other locks and said he could come out the
next morning (Saturday) to install it. But he also had a Kwikset
lockset on his truck and he mentioned he could use that and simply rekey
that new lock to match all the existing locks rather than the other way
around. Mike could have easily made an extra $60+ on me by going along
with my dumb idea to rekey all existing locks to match a new lock, not
to mention all the new copies of keys I would need, but he didn't. Talk
about professionalism! As a bonus, he fixed the same door that had
always been very sticky and required two hands to get it unlocked - one
pulling on the bottom knob while the other hand unlocked the deadbolt.
He didn't even charge for this extra work (of course, child's play for
him but we had no clue how to fix it). I absolutely wouldn't hesitate
to use Mike again or recommend him!
Very friendly; job was completed quickly and professionally; cost was
exactly what had been stated over the phone. We were very pleased!
This is not my first experience with a locksmith. As a Realtor I'm often required to do re-keys, especially if the home we are preparing to sell has been tenant occupied for an extended period. I was procrastinating this job because most of my experiences with locksmiths have been unfavorable. I'm relieved that I have someone I can call in the future. Mike is the best I've worked with.
