I was told that both front suspension control arms were broken and needed replacement at a parts-only cost of more than $1,100. They found additional work that could have totaled between $4,000 and $5,000. When I said that I did not want to do the work because the car is 11 years old and the cost was prohibitive, all courtesy, professionalism, and eye contact ceased.
I was later told by the next mechanic I went to that the control arms were not broken. Two $83 bushings needed replacement and the total cost including labor was $800.
