California Exterminating Service

When I called this company I got an immediate response and was quoted the price. He said he would call me back that evening to let me know when the work could be done, which he did. He scheduled the appointment within the week. I asked that he call us just prior to going to the rental property so we could meet him there to give him a check. He didn't call until the work was completed and it was decided that we would pay by credit card over the telephone and that he would send us a copy of the invoices for tax purposes. Unfortunately, it took three weeks and four unanswered messages before that  happened. This seems like a good company but their follow through with their clients needs improvement.

The fellow showed up a bit earlier than planned, but no matter. He explained what he would do - spray around the outside of the house and then decide if he needed to spray the basement crawl-space. 45 minutes later he said that he was finished and had found the source of the ants - two nests behind retaining walls. He said that we had called at exactly the right time - the end of summer - because after a couple of rains they move inside. He said that he probably fixed the problem but gave instructions as to what to do if they reappeared. He said that if they showed up again to call as they guaranteed their work for 30 days. Overall he was very pleasant, efficient, and explained everything about what he was doing, and why. Excellent experience.

I would give them the highest possible rating. They responded to my message the same day. The guy came out the next day and they also offered to return free of charge if there's any additional problems. So it was a great service. He was very professional and offered his personal phone number in case if there were any problems or questions. He was courteous and didn't leave a mess or anything. They had the best experience with the problem that he had.

I've used this company twice. The first time was in January (I think) 2011. I had a massive ant invasion in the house that kept getting worse and worse as I tried all the do it yourself ant products outside and inside. And I was getting sick from the fumes of the inside stuff and the stress. In desperation I called three extermination companies that had online reviews that were both relatively good and believable. California Exterminating was the only one that would do anything underneath the house, which was where I was pretty sure the ant nests were. And someone from them could come out that very day! He sprayed Essentria dust into the crawl space under the house and Phantom outside around the foundation and inside along the walls and into the cabinets under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I had asked for no spraying inside, but the person who came assured me it was harmless. When I looked up Phantom online, I found out it is anything but harmless; I should have vacated the house for 2.30 hours during and after spraying inside, and the person doing the spraying should have been wearing a gas mask and protective clothing. I had a reaction from the spraying (I assume) afterwards, but the ants disappeared immediately and did not return for a year and a half. This time I first made an appointment with Planet Orange because I figured all organic was better (see my review of them), but when I realized that wasn't going to work, called California Exterminating again. This time I asked that there be no spraying inside and that Essentria liquid be sprayed outside as well as the dust sprayed under the house. Again someone came quickly, the very next day in fact. The person who came did spray the Essentria dust under the house and did not spray inside, but used Termidor outside. When I asked about it, he said that Essentria liquid could be sprayed inside but wouldn't work outside. Anyway, again the ants disappeared immediately. I did not get sick this time, and bees are still feasting on the bee friendly plants in my garden, none of which are close to the house so seem to have escaped the ill effects of the Termidor. We'll see how long it lasts this time. Next time, I'll insist on the Essentria both under the house and outside, and see what that does.

California Exterminating Service came out twice and came back a few weeks later. It was not eradicated but he definitely made a difference. They were very friendly and the prices were reasonable.

Great!! Came when they said they would. Did what the said they would. Charged what they said they would. And they are nice guys!

California Pest Control I have them spray once a month for indoor pest. I have them spray the oak trees, and set traps for mice. I will use them in the future.

We are happy with them. They are friendly. We have had no bug issues and they are accessible. Kevin the owner is great!

A very responsive, friendly, and honest company, although I would try to avoid some people.
After moving to a new house, I discovered a gopher moved in with me. I found California Exterminating Service on Angie's List and called. I selected it because it is less than 6 miles from my house. My call was answered by an answering service. (Nice touch in the world of voicemails.) About 30 minutes after I hung up, the owner (Kevin) called back. A very friendly person. He gave me a quote of $125, which I felt was reasonable. He also offered a 30-day guarantee. I asked whether gopher might be a frequent problem in the region. Based on his knowledge of the neighborhood, he was reasonably sure that it wouldn't and gave me examples of problem areas for comparison.
On the day of the service, one of his crew (Mike) actually arrived 15 minutes early. He was quite friendly as well. He immediately got to work, probing for tunnels and dispensing bait. He informed me that it might take a week for the bait to work. Afterwards, I asked about the number of spiders I found around the house. He checked a few webs, gave me tips on managing them, and told me spraying was probably unnecessary. Additionally, he offered a discount if I chose that service on the same visit.
Unfortunately this first visit did not solve my problem and I called CES one week later. Again the call was answer by an answering service and someone called back half an hour later. Immediately he told me they would send someone the next day.
This time two members (Mario and another) of CES came. They arrived a little early too and started working right away. They were friendly, but unlike Mike, they pushed hard for work. They said I should have called sooner when the gopher bait didn't seem to work. When I asked about little red bugs on a rock bench, they said the bugs were spider mites and insecticide needed to be applied or they would spread into the house. (They were wrong. See next paragraph.)
The day after this second visit, the owner Kevin came to my house. He said he wasn't sure whether anyone followed up on my call and wanted to be sure. I mentioned the little red bugs again. Unlike what I heard the previous day, Kevin said the bugs were best left alone. He said they are clover mites, very common in the area. He received many calls about them. Because insectcides don't always work, he couldn't offer any guarantee. Furthermore, they would disappear in a few weeks by themselves. (He is right, according to UC Davis website.) Before driving off, he and I chatted about the neighborhood and its history.
California Exterminating Service is a very responsive, friendly, and honest company. However I will take advices from certain crew members with a grain of salt.

The people from California Exterminating Service Company are very professional. They are reliable. They do a good job. They are friendly. I have never had any problems with them. I would continue to use their services in the future.

We have a 6-unit townhouse complex, and 3 of us were hearing the rats in our ceilings late at night. California Exterminating has very good reviews, and was one the companies we called for an estimate. They were the first to come out (within a day). Mike, who did the inspection, was very knowledgeable and walked all over the roof and identified the places where the rats were coming in, and pointed out the location of those places. He inspected one of the attics as well. He gave us a lot of information about rat infestations, such as things that make our property vulnerable and what we can do to minimize the chances of them getting back in after the extermination is complete, such as trimming back trees close to the building. Mike explained very clearly about what they would do to treat the problem (close off with metal screen the entry points on the roof where rats were coming in, place traps in all 6 attics, then come back within 7 days to collect the traps. No poison. ). The guarantee is for 6 months and we need to call them when/if we hear any further rat noise in the attics and they will come back. The reason our guarantee is not longer than 6 months, is because of the one-piece garage doors we have; they are not secure from rats and so that is why we can't have a longer guarantee. Their price was in same ballpark as other estimates, but we chose them because of their promptness and how knowledgeable and thorough Mike was when he did the inspection. We are very happy with this company.

Very professional and responsive. Our tech was very nice and explained everything to us and even gave us some recommendations on our landscaping to help deter ants from building mounds near our house. He did a great job. Haven't seen an ant or any other bug for that matter in over a month. I also consulted with them on doing our office (found a scorpion in desk drawer) and Kevin gave us great advice that saved us money.

They saved us some money because he said that there wasn’t a real problem. The owner came out and told us that it wasn’t really a problem. He gave us good advice and pointed us in the right direction.

It took some extra effort by Kevin but he stuck with it and ultimately the squirrel left and the space that could be invaded by one again has been sealed up. I am very pleased with the outcome.

My tenant reported hearing scratching noise in attic at night time. I called Kevin in the morning and he sent a technician to help in the afternoon. After the service was completed, the tenant never hears the noise again. Indeed, this pest prevention service is effective, and the price is reasonable. I will call Kevin again for all my pest problems.

He came over and dealt with it. He came out three times. He did an excellent job. The health department got involved, because I was a little freaked out. He had reasonable prices for the work. I give him high marks for calling back, explaining the situation, giving me feedback, etc. I give them all A’s for their services. I would call them back out in the future.

They were very professional and very efficient. They did some extra work for me.

For both the rats and the ants, they were very prompt in coming out and taking care of the problem. I was very happy with the service.

We had found one roach in our garage in the morning. and we wanted someone to come out fast because we've never had roaches. I left a message for three companies and these guys called within half an hour. That was amazing in itself. The owner was very nice and professional and said he'd have someone out here between 11-1 p.m. His exterminator was out by 10:45 and after talking some, said he would just go ahead and spray. Very professional and I haven't seen anything. No ants or roaches in the past month since I called.

They always call the night before and tell you when they will be out and which tech will be coming. When they do come they let you know they have arrived unless it is early and you may still be sleeping. They leave a note on the door telling you they were there. Their treatments have really worked.

I really liked the man I worked with. Really helpful. He explained things to me like I was a real person. Courteous and respectful. They didn't talk down to me. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a exterminator.

Michael came out, showed up right on time, was extremely professional and explained exactly what he was doing and why. They have come out 3 times total because the ants have been tough to get rid of completely. Each time I've called, they have come out the same day and been extremely accommodating (coming out and spraying without us having to be home, etc).

I'VE USED THEM BEFORE FOR ANTS AND HAVE HAD EXCELLENT SERVICE. WHEN I DISCOVERED THE MICE IN MY GARAGE I KNEW INSTANTLY WHO TO CALL. I ALWAYS HAVE DEALT WITH KEVIN, BUT THIS TIME MICHAEL CAME AND WAS EQUALLY AS GREAT. FANTASTIC SERVICE!!
