We were essentially obligated to use Skyline because the building we bought into was offering a significant incentive for using this particular broker. Unfortunately, the process was painful. They are poor communicators; for example, our loan was held up for several days because of a missing piece of information, without us knowing! And we never would have known it was hold up if we hadn't asked, which is the worst part. There were numerous occasions like this. Second, they don't seem to have a master list of the information they need to complete the loan. We asked multiple times during the process "what else do you need from us?" and they would respond that everything was all set ... only to ask for more information in subsequent days. Third, I didn't get a strong sense of customer service or willingness to help us understand the nuances of the process. Once, a document we scanned to them was slightly dark -- we could read it fine, but they insisted we re-scan it more lightly (seemed unnecessary). Finally, their rates are just OK; nothing special. I didn't sense a willingness to negotiate but I didn't push because of the incentive we were receiving to use them.
