M W FORMAN RE APPRAISAL

I contacted Mr. Forman by phone to request an estimate for appraisal services on a residential property.  I explained that the property had recently been sold, and that it had originally been a trust asset.
Further, I explained that his opinion of value (a.k.a. appraisal) was required for a specific date in the past, nearly 2 years prior, in order to calculate potential trust tax liabilities (capital gains) incurred by the sale of the property.  Mr. Forman informed me of the appraisal cost, and that the appraisal process would take 5-7 business days.
Following this initial conversation, one of the trustees for the property inquired about the terms of payment, specifically would full payment be required in advance in order to initiate the work?  The trustee wanted to know if Mr. Forman would first complete the appraisal work and then release the report after receiving payment.
In an professional and honorable gesture, Mr. Forman indicated that he would initiate the work and send the completed apprasial report along with an invoice.  This was more than the trustee was asking for, and it left Mr. Forman with no assurance that he would get paid for his work.  As promised, Mr. Forman sent the completed report along with an invoice requesting payment.
Mr. Forman's extension of trust and timely follow through with quality work were very much appreciated.  Because our experience was very favorable, we highly recommend Mr. Forman's real estate appraisal services.
