Eric Alajarin Masonry

I located Eric on Angie's list, and met him at my house after speaking with several different contractors by phone. Working with Eric was a terrific experience. He was extremely responsive and prompt. He offered many very helpful ideas, including design ideas. This was a logistically complicated job because it involved widening a driveway while coordinating around the moving of a water meter and main water line. Eric had to prepare the form for the expansion of the driveway so that the City and private plumber could then work around the form he created. Eric actually prepared the job site for the City to move the water meter and the plumber to move and reattach the main water line. He then returned as soon as they were done to complete the widening of the driveway, matching the concrete color and stamp design.  He suggested what curve/shape we should use for the expanded part of the driveway and we loved his idea and used it-- it allowed for a perfect place for a new mailbox, which he then also installed for us.
At all times Eric was helpful, courteous, prompt, and kept a neat job site. He provided the safety cones and other materials to keep someone from wandering onto the site.  He was very conscious of our safety and that of our neighbors.
On some days he was accompanied by his father and brother who were also very  hardworking and helpful in completing the job. 
I could not be happier with the result. I have several other projects on the property and look forward to working with Eric again.

Overall, I thought that Eric and his crew did pretty good job.  Most important for me was the cleanliness of the job.  I have worked with several different contractors over the years.  The biggest frustration is most contractors are messy and sloppy, and they always rush thru at the end of the project, that they become sloppy with their work at the end, because they become more eager to move to the next project.  However, Eric kept my property clean and was able to keep my surrounding grass and landscaping intact.  Eric was easy to work with and easy to understand.  He took the time to explain steps by steps as I like to ask lot of question about any of my projects. Both of the retaining walls look great and are still standing.  Eric did fantastic job with the old retaining wall, especially he had to remove several old brown blocks (most were old and fragile) and rebuilt it, to match with the other side retaining wall.  Yes, I would hire him again for any future jobs.

Eric was a pleasure to work with.  He was down to earth, straightforward, and low pressure.
He was quick to show up and provide an estimate when other contractors we contacted
sometimes didn't even bother to return our calls.
He was responsive before we gave him the job and during the job, communicating
both via emails and phone calls as necessary.
He showed up when he said he would on time, did what we agreed on for the agreed upon
price, and finished on time.
He did the work himself along with some helpers.  He was consistently polite and 
the work was well done and he was clearly concerned with our satisfaction with the
job.  He also made sure that the sprinkler lines affected by the tree roots were working and
ran a couple of lengths of PVC under the new sidewalk sections in case later the tree roots
damaged the existing lines it'd be easier to fix the system.
Last but not least he cleaned up properly when the job was finished.  

I called Mr. Alajarin and set up an appointment for him to estimate my driveway. He showed up on time for our meeting and we proceeded to walk through my project. It was clear right away that Eric was very knowledgeable about his trade. He talked through all my options for color and stamping as well as gave me great ideas for making the look of the driveway work with the design of my house. I really got a good vibe and felt that he was there to help me, he listened to my concerns, and I did not feel like I was getting sold on things I didn't want. Eric promised me an estimate by the end of the week. Two days later I received an email with the quote of $4800.00 for the entire project which I thought was very fair considering all the work involved. It was one of the two lowest bids I got for the job.

After scheduling the job for the following week, Eric and his crew arrived promptly on Monday to start the job. His crew was professional, respected the neighborhood and worked hard! He used steel rebar instead of the cheaper wire mesh suggested by other contractors. By the end of the week we had a gorgeous new driveway! No overages or problems. Needless to say my wife and I were very pleased and decided to have Mr. Alajarin bid on our backyard patio project. Overall, my experience with Eric Alajarin Masonry was what I would consider a perfect contractor - customer transaction.
