Worst experience ever with any contractor. Jim Hosseini, the owner, did the original estimate but sent his incompetent flunkies to do the work. They clearly did not know the code and did a Mickey Mouse job. It was always different guys showing up days or weeks after the work was supposed to be finished (and only after multiple calls to find out where they were) that did not know what needed to be done or how to do it. Jim would quote me a price over the phone for additional work but when he sent the invoices the prices were higher. If I complained he would try to bully and intimidate me (seems to have a problem with women). His work failed inspection twice and he tried to blame me for it, saying I gave instructions to his guys that were wrong, as if I am supposed to know the code and the business of an electrician. Then he tried to double bill me for work I had already paid for, and tried to bill me for the additional work he had to do to correct his flunkies' shoddy work so he could pass inspection (without any agreement from me in advance that I would pay these amounts). When I refused to pay these last two fraudulent invoices he put a lien on my house. The lien is invalid, but now I have to go through the hassle and aggravation to get it removed. I have since hired another electrician to come in and fix some of the bad work done by Agoura Electric (costing me more money) and the new electrician told me he was shocked at the quality of work done before his. The only reason I hired this electrician to begin with was because I had used them at my house years before and they did good work. After all this happened I found out this is not the original Agoura Electric, they went out of business and this guy Jim took over the name. Run, do not walk, from this electrician!

We've had a really bad experience with them. After I had my experience I talked to some of my neighbors and three of them had a really bad experience with the same company. They were just horrible. I had a pool table at the time. They didn't cover it; they got plaster from the ceiling all over it. It was really bad. They quoted me a written estimate and when they started the work they tried to jack it up by $500. One can definitely not use them. They are not professional and they don't honor their estimate. The guy was yelling at me. I have Rottweiler’s and he thought they wanted to attack him, so he started screaming at me.

I happened to meet Jim, the owner, by chance while I was in the middle of upgrading to a tankless water heater which requires an exterior outlet. He came over himself the same day to look at it, and sent a couple guys over the next day. After talking with them for a couple minutes they figured out a really smart (I think) way to install the outlet. They took care of it fast and neatly. It was a small job, but so far I'm very happy with Agoura Electric.

The man (Billy? Something like that) who came out to give me an estimate took one look at my condo (I guess it looked cheap?)and immediately tried to sell me can lights. When I expressed my interest in low voltage lighting, he switched gears and tried to sell me everything that he had was expensive. I should have known then to get out! We signed an agreement to have Agoura Electric install 19 recessed lights in my house and to move around some electrical switches. From then on, I never saw Billy again, and I had to deal with his minions. The staff was clearly unhappy working for this man, and it showed in their work. They showed up late and without the materials they needed. Then they tried to charge me for the time it took them to find a Home Depot and get the materials. In my front room they couldn't follow the diagram, and installed too few lights, but (I foolishly felt) it was too late to change it as the holes were already cut in my ceiling. Argh!
