Juan has performed work for us in 2005 and it was well done, so I called him again to install a new ceramic tile shower in place of an old shower that had to be removed. He came to see the job and quoted it. Had the plumbing work done before he arrived: new valve and new drain pipe. I selected and purchased the tile so it was there when he arrived for the work. He furnished all the other supplies. Juan brought several guys to assist him over the course of about a week. The job was well done.
After the job was finished, I discovered that the lavatory in the bathroom would not drain. I had to take apart the p-trap and discovered mud in there. Apparently some of Juan's helper's washed it down the drain rather than dispose of it outside. So I sent him a note so that he could teach his helpers not to wash off excess grout in a bathrrom sink. He thanked me and said he would do so. If I were to hire again, I would just remind him to tell his crew about where to dispose of excess material. The accomodation of his customer and the quality of his work far outweigh the inconvenience of a clogged drain.
