This man and his helper did such a good job resetting the bricks and fixing my rip rap ($300 and $1300) that I asked him if he had ever built a fountain with a waterfall-with a filter and water line to provide water to the fountain and a filter to keep it clean.  He said that indeed he did have experience and promised to give me pictures of some of the work he had done.  I never got the pictures, but he did such a good job with the other work that I told him to go-ahead with the construction.  At first, it appeared he knew what he was doing, but I began to have my doubts when he connected a pool pump to the water line.  I knew we were in trouble when
he began to lay plastic sheets below the stones in the waterfall to prevent the water from leaking-he then attempted to cover the plastic with cement-though unsuccessfully.  I will say, he and his helper (neither of whom speak English) did work hard, sweated a lot. but the final product was an eyesore and I told him to remove it--which they did in a day.  But I learned my lesson--no more mexican handymen who say they can do a job when in fact, they haven't a clue.
