The only roofer I called that didn't try and sell me a whole new roof. Scott spent a good amount of time with me.... no rush, no 'can't make any money on this' attitude. Suggested that I should call the HVAC contractor even with as long as it had been since it was installed. He said that the roof was poorly patched after the old HVAC unit was removed and the new one installed. He showed me what should have been done to help and what to watch for if they agreed to make it right. He left saying to call if he could help and that we would figure out an affordable way to fix it. When I do need a new roof they will absolutely be my go to contractor.

Fortunately, I called RHR Roofing to find out what they planned to do about the roof. Scott, the new owner of the company was immediately and completely responsive. His field supervisor, Dennis, soon confirmed the existence of rot identified by my inspector and immediately had their carpentry crew on the roof. One and one half days later the rotten wood was gone and replaced by new wood. The carpenters, Steven and Guy, resealed the new construction and replaced the tiles. They left a clean work site, the roof looks great, and it is guaranteed for four years.
For me, one true measure of a solid company is how they respond to problems that invariably creep into a big project. RHR Roofing responded professionally and competently. I am pleased with their work and will use them in the future. I am scheduled to complete the house purchase in early May, 2015.

Work on our roof started about three weeks after we signed the contact. The manager called the week before to confirm the date when work would begin. Workers showed up later in the day than I expected and told me that the job would be done in a couple of hours. I thought that seemed rather fast as there were two sections of my roof that needed repair. The two workers knocked to let me know that they were finished in about 2.5 hours. I told them that I wanted to take a quick look at the side where the new barrels were to be placed and they were confused. I walked with them around the side of my house and no, there were still no barrels and they workers said they didn't know that they needed to do that work and did not have the materials for it. They told me that they would have to come back the next day.
I called the office to confirm that my roof would be finished the next day and was told that a supervisor would call me back. No one called. The next day came and I called the office again. I was told that the crew would come to finish the job that day but that they had been put onto a different job so it wouldn't be until later in the day. No one ended up showing up. The next day I again called the office, and someone from the actual work crew called me. He said that he would be out in a few hours to finish up the second part of the roof. They came and finished it, minus the wood trim piece that I was somehow supposed to know they would not be replacing. The wood piece goes under where the tiles are nailed in so I can't do it now. It would have been nice to know that up front, because I can't fix it now and one side of my roof doesn't match the other.
Later that evening, my husband wanted to take a peek at the work. Up on the roof he found dozens of roofing nails, a cigarette butt and broken roofing tiles. The areas around where the mortar balls were replaced were covered with globs of mortar haphazardly dripped around the areas. The mortar balls themselves were not smooth, and some were quite uneven. I called their office to complain and request that my roof be look at again by a supervisor and that it be cleaned up.
A couple of days later the inspector came out to look at it. He did not do anything to remedy the situation while he was here but said that a crew would be out.
Two days later, the same crew that had been out the previous two times came back. They cleaned up the cigarette butt, somewhat fixed the mortar balls (though they are still sloppy) and cleaned up around them and secured the barrel tiles to the roof. When the knocked to let me know they were done, I asked if they had cleaned up the nails. "What nails?" they asked me. One of the two workers went back up and got some down, then they packed up and left. My husband finished picking up the nails from the roof later that evening when he got home from work.
No one has called to follow up with me regarding the job.
Overall, the people who I spoke with were nice, however the job did not seem like it was done by professionals.

They did a great job. They did everything they said they were going to do. They came on time. It was a bit expensive. It was a big job. The price was what was told it was going to be. We decided it was a good price.
