"Thank You! Mr [Removed member name]"
"Thank you for the positive share {Member name removed}. We truly appreciate when people notice when we stand out above the rest. Warm Regards Mariellen Ekstrom"
For me, one true measure of a solid company is how they respond to problems that invariably creep into a big project. RHR Roofing responded professionally and competently. I am pleased with their work and will use them in the future. I am scheduled to complete the house purchase in early May, 2015.
"Thank you we appreciate the good report."
I called the office to confirm that my roof would be finished the next day and was told that a supervisor would call me back. No one called. The next day came and I called the office again. I was told that the crew would come to finish the job that day but that they had been put onto a different job so it wouldn't be until later in the day. No one ended up showing up. The next day I again called the office, and someone from the actual work crew called me. He said that he would be out in a few hours to finish up the second part of the roof. They came and finished it, minus the wood trim piece that I was somehow supposed to know they would not be replacing. The wood piece goes under where the tiles are nailed in so I can't do it now. It would have been nice to know that up front, because I can't fix it now and one side of my roof doesn't match the other.
Later that evening, my husband wanted to take a peek at the work. Up on the roof he found dozens of roofing nails, a cigarette butt and broken roofing tiles. The areas around where the mortar balls were replaced were covered with globs of mortar haphazardly dripped around the areas. The mortar balls themselves were not smooth, and some were quite uneven. I called their office to complain and request that my roof be look at again by a supervisor and that it be cleaned up.
A couple of days later the inspector came out to look at it. He did not do anything to remedy the situation while he was here but said that a crew would be out.
Two days later, the same crew that had been out the previous two times came back. They cleaned up the cigarette butt, somewhat fixed the mortar balls (though they are still sloppy) and cleaned up around them and secured the barrel tiles to the roof. When the knocked to let me know they were done, I asked if they had cleaned up the nails. "What nails?" they asked me. One of the two workers went back up and got some down, then they packed up and left. My husband finished picking up the nails from the roof later that evening when he got home from work.
No one has called to follow up with me regarding the job.
Overall, the people who I spoke with were nice, however the job did not seem like it was done by professionals.
"Thank you Mrs [Removed member name]. We have looked into the matter to see what happened. This seemed completely out of character for our company and the people we employ. We always hope that our customers will come to us if there is ever a problem. We vow to always stand by our work and pride ourselves on the certainty of our customers satisfaction. It is to our understanding that this was addressed and the job has been completed to the customers satisfaction."
"Thank you for the review. We have only 3 supervisors who wear many hats. Times are tough in construction right now. You can always reach one of the office crew anytime between 8-5 and they will get the message to them as soon as possible."
"Thank you [removed member name]. We appreciate your review."

"Hello, Thank you for your review. We appreciate your taking the time to share your experience. We always try to meet and or exceed your expectations. We know you have a choice and appreciate your choosing us. Regards Mariellen Ralph Hays Roofing"
"Thank you for taking the time to rate our company! We take pride in pleasing our customers."
All the employees at Ralph Hays Roofing were very nice and professional.
Our roof was over 20 years old and we had been having some leaks. We knew it was time for a full re-roofing project and we had been putting it off during the downturn. We needed a fair price and quality workmanship. Plus, my 88 year Grandmother lives with us and I wanted to be very comfortable with the crew that came to our house to work. She loved them too!
We got a few estimates and found Ralph Hays to be a good value and we trusted them to do the job to our standards.
They went the extra mile to find enough matching tile for the pieces that needed replacing and we especially appreciated that.
"Thank you for the opportunity to Reroof your home.We appreciate when people share their experiences. We especially are pleased to hear when everyone is doing things to the customers satisfaction."
"Thank you for the good rating. We do try to do everything to the customers satisfaction. It was our pleasure."
Ralph Hays stated the skylight was not the problem, they measured an area to repair and when we received the estimate for about 4K the measured area did not encompass the entire affected areas.
With the other bids that came in, i received photos from the roof in real time, showing me what was exactly wrong and furthermore that the original roof was not built to code. underlayment placed by the original roofer for subdivision was only one layer, 2 layers is code. more than one bidder told me they had found the same problem in several homes repaired in my area.
The roofer i hired told me what i had suspected from the start, he stated that water could enter from all of the flashings for pipes on that side of the roof because the flashings all of them had not been installed such that water could not enter them. they did not meet the roof and were just somewhat floating, the skylight was a serious problem he stated that someone had just used some stuffed in filler and some kind of sealant/glue that dried and cracked and still left the problem area exposed. He stated it had not been flashed at all. several bidders told me the same thing, that they would start at the ridge line, remove reflash the skylight, and reflash all pipes on that side of the roof, lay down code/ 2 layers of underlayment and replace with original composite tiles.
Ralph Hays stated that there was no need to repair skylight as it was and quot;okand quot; other bidders showed me the photos, it was a serious problem. Ralph Hays gave the impression that they did not care about fixing anything properly.
Logic and physics dictate that what is damaged uphill will eventually affect everything downhill. with such a severe leak it obviously had an origin, and starting at the top to fix a problem just makes sense.
"Dear Angie’s list, This is in dispute of [removed member name] review. This year 2013 is the first time we ever heard anything about her very angry testimonial. We do our best work when people communicate with us directly. We are sorry she had a bad experience and can assure anyone if we are made aware of any kind of problem we take care of it until the customer is completely satisfied. If it was a severe leak, as she explains it, The cost would have been a lot more than $150.00 The time and the materials alone for such a leak would have been quite a bit more. We built the roof in February of 1997 for Dominion homes. That is 13 years before we got any calls from anyone asking for maintenance or complaints. If she has any questions about warranties she is free to discuss it with the ROC. 2-4 year warranty on that scope of work is The Norm. Maintenance needs to be kept up on any roof. I’m not sure why if this happened in 2010, we are just hearing about it now here in the view of the public. We attend to all complaints and take notes on all phone calls. We work with the Register of Contractors as well as The better Business Bureau, The ARCA and we have an excellent record with all of them. We also carry your Angie's List Super Service Award. If you read on here there are excellent reviews, if you have been in business as long as we have, there will be some customers that just have nothing nice to say. That really disappoints us because we pride ourselves on our reputation."
"Thank you for the pleasant review. We always aim to Please, and want our customers satisfied."
The estimate was exactly what we paid, and they did not try to sell us anything else.
The workers showed up on the day we had previoulsy scheduled and the work was completed in a timely manner. They were not loud or obnoxious. My wife was ill that day, and they were as quiet as roofers can be. They stayed until the job was complete and then were gone.
Clear and concise written estimate provided promptly thereafter.
Work commenced and completed 6 hours in a efficient and professional manner as scheduled and agreed.
