He resealed around the chimney and the two sky light windows on a rather steep roof which required the use of a safety belt and ropes.  He then cleaned out the rain gutters and installed some wire screening over the gutters to prevent more leaves from clogging them up.
He also purchased the required roofing compound in advance, as we had agreed, and gave me the receipt for it after the work was completed for reimbursement.
He did a very professional job and I would recommend his services to anyone in need of handyman repairs.

I needed to fix my gate because I am an Elder Lawyer with aged clients who could not open the gate.
He came saw the superstructure of the 15 foot fate was warped. The parts were no longer made, but he improvised brilliantly.
Very, very well done in 1.5 days. The gate now swings open and shut with ease.

My issue with this provider does not relate to the quality of his work but to his conduct. When I hire a provider I do not expect to hear intimate details about that individual's personal life. I told him I did need to know anything more about him than his opinions about my wiring. I eventually had to tell him that he needed to discuss his feelings with his wife or with a professional counselor. He also kept coming earilier and earlier than the time agreed upon - sometimes arriving as early at 7:00 AM - and each time commented on my state of dress.

Excellent!  Had a leak from my refrigerator-fixed the leak, fixed the damage done behind the refrigerator and fixed the tiles as well.  Also fixed my toilet that was leaking.

Oscar was called by our tenant, responded promptly to the phone call, and scheduled an appointment in a timely manner.  He came over, assessed the situation, and then went to the store to get supplies. He used some parts that he already had (at no extra cost) to fix our doorbell.  All-in-all it took a few hours to complete and his price was very reasonable.  Oscar is very knowledgable, very professional, and very friendly.  We will definitely utilize his services in the future and we recommend him to anyone in need of a good handyman.

I've used this company over five years for my 1949 rental house so always had plenty of repairs. Other jobs over the years were replacement of hot water heater, toilet repair, painting and drywall work, tile repair and replacement, light fixtures repairs, door and lock replacement, including the fish pond care and pump issues.  I"ve never been unhappy with the work. Oscar is always professional and timely and if busy, he let's you know when he will be there and keeps his word.  I gave him keys to doors and gates and I knew I could depend on him when I wasn't able to be there. He has good attention to detail and  never disappointed.

Great experience.  Oscar came out and gave us a bid.  When decided to go with him based on his description of the process for this project.

He got on the job quickly, works steady and is very knowledgeble.  Has all the tools needed; but particularly he has items which he has made himself to make doing this particular job easier for one person.  His experience shows and his attention to quality also.
He estimated two days, came in a little ahead of that.

Made a big difference in the look of the house.

I called Oscar Tortosa because he got such good reviews on Angie's List.  When he came to give me an estimate, I was troubled by the fact that he is not licensed or bonded but I let it go because the work was pretty simple and - again, he was so highly rated on Angie's List.  After I went through the list of items to be done, he said he preferred to work on an hourly basis rather than give me a quote for everything.  I did not like that approach but I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.  I asked if he charged for travel time and he said no, he only charged for time spent buying materials for me and for time spent working.  I asked to meet him at Home Depot so that I could pick out the hardware for my doors.  He insisted we meet at the store closest to him saying that they had the best selection.  So I drove 45 minutes to the store he chose.  The shopping took a full hour because Oscar had not done any preparation or homework to see if they had what we needed.  He is a friendly, chatty guy.  Be warned, when he charges by the hour, you are paying for the conversation.  When the work was finished, he charged me from the minute he got to Home Depot.  That means he charged me for travel time and for clean up time (although I helped him clean up) which came out to 7.5 hours rather than the 6 that I had calculated based on shopping time and actual work time.  When I pointed out that he had said that travel time was not to be charged, he simply said "Well, I'm working for you from the time I get in my car in the morning".   I paid him for 7 hours which, in my opinion, was an hour more than it should have been.  In all my experience with contractors, no one has ever charged me for time spent driving to and from the job or for clean up time.   The work was adequate but, next time, I will use someone who is licensed, bonded and more professional in their estimates and their demeanor.

"When you go to a restaurant you ought to order, only that which you will be able to afford.- If you order the most expensive items on the menu you will ( probably ) have problems when they give you the check.- If you want cheap labor, (I suggest ) nex time, go to a home depot parking lot; some of those guys work for food (or even beer )...Regarding the quality of my work, see what all the ANGIES LIST MENBERS,that I have served through the years, have to say.To ANGIES LIST I want to thank you for your support.-"

Remarkable handyman!  Oscar arrived with a truck pulling a trailer that contained an amazing assortment of tools.  I had three contractors working at the same time on hourly rates to get a house I bought in order.  Oscar was proactive and found high priority repairs that needed to be made.

I highly recommend him!

Very well.  Oscar arrived on time, and was helpful, clear, personable, and professional.  He was true to his word, charged us no more than the estimate.  We will use him again for handyman needs, for sure.

He came and tested the circuits and found out that not only did I have a defective circuit breaker for my outside lights, he also discovered a bad receptacle that had blown out a circuit breaker that I wasn't even aware of. He installed the new breakers and receptacle and installed a new fixture for the outside lights that had probably caused the problem with the circuit breaker to begin with. Everything worked when he was done and he was very prompt and charged a reasonable price for the services he performed. I would definitely use him again.

Oscar arrived on time and ready to see what needed done as well as being very polite. The receipts were given to me to account for all the products he purchased to get the jobs done. He enjoys visiting with you but not so that it takes away from the task at hand. It good to get to know who you have working in your house.

Courteous, polite, punctual, knowledgeable. Two other companies didn't even complete estimate. Oscar was a pleasure to deal with and showed up when he said he would. He had the experience to advise and perform the tasks that we needed. We will use Oscar again!

My roof had been leaking in exactly the same spot over a period of time. I had a new roof put on several years ago, a new cooler installed and my ceiling repaired about six years ago. A new coating of paint was applied about three years ago after which, the leak began again. I have had estimates in the past on what the problem is and how it could be fixed but the remedies did not seem to be a solution. I called Oscar on a Monday and he scheduled an appointment for an estimate the following day. He arrived promptly, examined the problem area indoors and on the roof, explained to me what the problem was and how he would do the repairs. The flat rate price he quoted I thought to be reasonable. His pinpointing the problem and repairs necessary to fix it was right on. I am very pleased with the work he did.

Oscar is a very experienced handyman, electrician, plumber, etc. He came at 7:30 A.M each day and put in a full day's work. The most important job was to patch several cracks in the stucco parapet walls on our flat roof. Although he had strong ideas about how to do this, he did it the way we wanted, which he thought would be less of a permanent fix. We agreed that if the cracks reopened in less than 2 years we would do it his way. He also did a more complete repair of a stucco wall surrounding our pool, using concrete filler and rebar to reinforce the wall. He also did several smaller jobs, including installing new faucets and valves, replacing an electric outlet, caulking, routing table legs, and reinforcing the rubber bottom strips on our garage doors. He did each job well and had creative ideas for how to fix things. He is also friendly and pleasant to work with. He did put me off initially by showing up and asking that I sign a contract to complete all the tasks I had listed for him. I did not want to commit to the entire list until I had some experience with his work. It turned out he did not need that commitment and just wanted in writing that he would be paid for what he did. Once we straightened that out, things went much better. He is actually reasonable regarding payment schedule, asking only to be reimbursed for out of pocket materials costs until the job is done, at which time he would be paid for his work.
