The product: Window Mart vinyl replacement window. I have looked and you cannot find much about these windows anywhere. Since I have lived with these for 18 months, I can tell you they are an entry level window. The noise infiltration is high, and the way they seal is just OK. We had a driving rain in October 2015, and the sills all filled with water. I called Pat and he said that was normal. I don't believe a well designed window would fill with water. Overall, I am disappointed with the product. I have saved some in heating/cooling, but Pat made grandiose claims and I have seen maybe a 10% reduction.
The install: Scott Meeks' crew is very clean and professional. They worked very hard removing my old aluminum windows. The installation of the new windows was very good. BUT, I have had to re-caulk almost every window at least twice. The caulk they used shrank, leaving open cracks for water to penetrate. Also, they used no spray foam to insulate around the windows. A neighbor just used another company and they used foam around the windows, which made it very quiet and increased the air-tightness/seal.
My windows from this company are just OK. I wish I had used Milgard or Simonton from Home Depot. Both are better windows I believe. I'm stuck, but you don't have to be.
Pat the salesman was a real professional, knew his products, helped us determine what we needed and worked out a good price for what appears to be a very good product. He sold us two windows. It took a couple of weeks to get them installed, largely because the installers were very busy. When the installers arrived they were on time, efficient, nice guys with a sense of humor, resourceful and efficient. They removed our old windows and installed the new ones. The job appears to have been very well done. The windows reduce energy loss from the rooms and help keep us warmer on cold nights and early mornings. They reduce the sound of traffic on Speedway and the firehouse across the street. We are very pleased and expect to get patio doors from this company as soon as we can afford them.
