My pet had her annual checkup and all her annual vaccines at Tucson Small Animal Hospital. They are really good vet. She was having urinary tract problems when we first came out here in December, we were afraid that she had problems and so, I took her there and of course they are really good about getting back to you when they take test, when they do exams or whatever, they are really good about calling you the next day or whatever and letting you know what the results from their tests are, you don't have to worry about for now. The receptionists are really friendly, the doctor is very nice. I think he is very reasonable in price too. I would use them again in the future. When we came out here and we were concerned because she was acting like she might have an UTI and that was the first place we went to because I felt comfortable taking her their again because they had already seen her before.

Animal Boarding Kennels
I was having mold removed from my house and wanted to get my 2 cats out of the environment after they started showing worrying behavior. Tucson Small Animal Hospital was willing to give the cats the shots they needed to board them, and boarded them as long as I needed to complete the mold removal.

Their hours of operation are very convinient (7-7). My dog is always returned with a complimentary bath and is always happy to go to the facility.

On the 12th, they were unable to obtain a consistent weight on him out of three tries He was cooperative and still on the scales, so I don't understand the discrepancy. Each time I have taken him or one of my cats, they have asked to bring a stool sample just for the routine visit. The cost of the exam and vaccines are much more expensive than his last vet. The other vet also did not include stool samples as part of the regular exam unless there were symptoms or a need to look further for something causing problems. The last vet was also more holistic and naturally friendly, less invasive as possible. The vet he saw on the 12th told me it will be expected for him to have things go wrong with him since he is 10 years old. He was surprised I had not yet started him on senior dog food. He said he was concerned about a 3 to 4 pound loss since the last exam. I explained our schedule had just changed, and he spends more time alone since my work hours increased, which I believe may be contributed to the weight loss. His appetite has decreased and his exercise time going for walks have practically been eliminated during our transition. This has been my 3rd or 4th visit to this vet facility. We have seen the same vet twice, being told he will be our regular vet. I searched Angie's List and have decided to change vets. I will do more research, but I will feel better with a vet who is not intimidated by my dog, but friendly, using natural instincts, unafraid to get close to him as the Tucson Small Animal Vet seems to be. His stool sample came out just fine. I am reluctant to do the urinalysis, which is more expensive and most likely unnecessary. He is active and has an appetite, though he is hesitant to eat the new senior diet. I love my dog. He is my companion; the cats miss him when he is gone ;). The cats are my companions as well - it's like they are all siblings to one another. Both Buddy and the cats deserve a vet who treats them with kindness and respect, happy to see them. Dogs and cats can sense when others have tense, negative energy. So can I.....

My mother has gone to Dr. Armstrong for years, first for her pit bull. This dog hated vet offices and would quiver the whole time she was there until she went into the exam room and saw Dr. Armstrong. This vet could get the pit to do any thing for her including lie on her back to have her spine x-rayed when the dog was in pain. Pits are strong dogs but this one had some bad luck. Dr. Armstrong diagnosed Cushing's disease before it had progressed and found the tumor on the adrenal glands. She advised not to remove it because the dog had Valley Fever and might react badly to surgery. According to the literature, dogs with Cushing's lived an average of two years with or without surgery. The pit bull lived another 9 years by taking a 'cancer' drug. Then, when the dog was very sick and we thought we would have to put her down, Dr. Armstrong thought that the pain medication the dog took for arthritus could have upset her GI track and put her on a different drug. The 13 year old dog lived happily for another year. Dr. Armstrong does the most thorough exam I have experienced, asks questions, calms the dog. Now my mother's Bichon is in love with Dr. Armstrong.
