I purchased my shades From Kenneth W Johnson with KWJ-Consultant with Tucson Rolling Shutters & Screens in Houston, Tx. Kenneth guarantee he would assist with any problem or issues with the product. After a few weeks of use bolts came off, two of my screen came apart, one won’t stop without cutting the power. Kenneth had someone to come out twice but the problems continued. Kenneth Johnson stop taking my calls for assistance. I call Tucson Rolling Shutter & Screens just to be told they don’t service Houston, Tx. In my opinion the installation was not completed properly and to be left with an investment with no service help feels like a scam… If your not in Arizona with a professional service department I would not purchase the product. Thousands of dollar lost to Kenneth W Johnson and Tucson Rolling Shutter & Screens. In addition Kenneth took $400 from for the purchase of Bond Bridge Pro a device to allow the shade to communicate with WIFI. Again he stop accepting my calls for a refund or the device

I have purchased from them two separate times with this last one installed over the summer of this year. The screen stopped working in the down position, locking us out of our backyard. Obviously, we called immediately and emailed to get on the service list. It took days for anyone to respond and they tried to tell me that the earliest availability is 4 weeks away! I said, this is not acceptable, we do not have access to our backyard. We just got these installed a few months ago and we cannot even let our dogs into the backyard. My reply was minutes after their email communication on 12/5, they replied back to me on 12/21 saying sorry for the delay that is the best they can do. We obviously found another solution, but this service is not acceptable. I was a repeat customer that spent almost $20k with them. Do NOT buy from them, go to someone who values your business and will communicate. There are plenty of options out there.
Response from Tucson Rolling Shutters
"I spoke with Mr. [Member Name Removed] and apologized for the inconvenience. It's true that one team member took too long to call back and that is not how we do business. I did explain that this power situation had nothing to do with our products or our company. My team can’t fix what’s wrong with customer’s homes unrelated to our products. We will always learn and grow from good and bad. However, I do not agree that a missed phone call is justification for this level of punitive negative review. This is not representative of our entire company or the team. We receive rave reviews about our team, our products, and our exceptional customer service weekly."

A few days before the installation date, they called again to say the blinds had come in but had a flaw, so they were having them done again. However, this would only delay the installation by about 5 days. On the day, the two installers arrived and installed the blinds, asking us for our input as to how we wanted them. They were very professional and answered all our questions. We would definitely use Tucson Rolling Shutters again should we decide we need any more.

Repair went well but bill was very much over the verbal quote I was given of $500. ( My mistake in not getting it in writing ) Attempted to negotiate with a billing person in their office but she was in a non listening mode and made no effort at all to resolve the situation. I  tried to explain to her that the mark up on their parts was 50 to 100% over what other RETAILERS were selling those parts for and suggested that because Tucson Rolling Shutters was very likely buying those parts at WHOLESALE prices, the markup was even more  exorbitant. She simply challenged me to explain how I knew what they payed for parts and stated that there was no way she would make any adjustment whatsoever to the bill. Please note I was a repeat customer, (emphasis on WAS) and they actually had  asked a few years ago if other potential customers could call me as a reference and come over to view their installation. I agreed. Mistake, again.

Response from Tucson Rolling Shutters
"We were willing to explain everything but this client did not want our explanation. • The motor is 26 inches long so not one of our small motors. • Actual cost paid by this customer per our invoice: $650. • Not charged: a separate non-warranty service call. • This is a specialty motor for our proprietary locking system and is no longer manufactured. It’s NOT available online and cannot be sold or purchased by other retailers. • We charge $530 for this specialty locking system with radio motor. • This price includes built-in specialty smart locking electronics, built-in Radio Remote electronics, and sales tax. • The rest is labor which includes a two man crew on ladders to take the screen apart remove the old motor. This includes un-wiring and rewiring the power to the motors, factory reset on the transmitter, resetting the up and down limits, and resetting the locking system limits. • We charge $360 for a standard motor and this hasn’t changed much in 15-20 years. • A similar Phoenix company just quoted $450 for a standard motor. • We charge $485 for a Radio Remote motor. Additionally, I want to add that this screen is more than 2 years past it’s warranty and we still went out at NO CHARGE and serviced this screen on a separate non-warranty issue before replacing the motor. (Should have been $95) We always take great care of our customers. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Chris Trafton VP, Tucson Rolling Shutters, Inc. Cell (520) 891-8866"

Within the past year an older south facing screen had to be repaired because of worn fabric.  During the initial replacement process the motor was shorted out accidentally.  Tucson Rolling Shutters replaced the motor at no cost and then returned numerous times to make adjustments to our system which was initially installed fifteen years ago.  Ultimately it was determined that new fabric was necessary and this was installed, all adjustments were made and everything seems to be working very well.  When the fabric stretches (expected), the techs will return to make a final adjustment.  A few too many visits but everything has turned out very well.  The techs seem to know their business and went out of their way to find a used electronic board since they are no longer being manufactured.  I would recommend the company and its products.  It is particularly nice to have the same company around for so many years.

We had two of Tucson Rolling Shutters older mechanical rolling shutters on the house in an area that needed work.   We needed some work done on the walls and windows of that room and we wanted to get an idea of reinstallation issues.  Jeff came out and was very helpful.  The shutters were some of their very old models but he said they could be refurbished.
We needed to have some wall and window work completed by a contractor first.  I removed the old rolling shutters and took them into the factory where they would be refurbished.  While I was dropping them off I noticed the newer models and the workers graciously took the time to talk to me about the newer models.   Wow, great products! I decided to ask Jeff about the cost difference of refurbishing vs getting a newer model with motor.  I'm so happy I did, the cost was not that much more considering the nice upgraded features on the newer models and the electric motor, which my older models did not have.
Jeff turned the project over to Rudy.  Rudy came out and measured for our project and marked for the contractors where the siding needed to stop.   Rudy did this at the last minute on a Saturday.  Rudy saved the day on our timeline!  We needed to have that marked so the contractor could put the siding up.
After construction was completed on the windows and wall Bob and Javier came out to install the single motorized rolling shutter we had selected to replace the two much older hand crank rolling shutters.  They did a great job and were professional, polite, skilled and detailed.
We love the look, insulation, security, sound reduction and motor in the new rolling shutter!  My whole house has rolling shutters and if I ever need another rolling shutter replaced I will use Tucson Rolling Shutters again.

I ordered 3 rolling screens for my patio on 9/16/2013.  They were measured 3 times and finally made. They came out to installed them on Oct. 3, 2013. A one day install wound up being about a 2 months plus. It was a total nightmare. They installed the 1st and 2nd screen but the 3rd was 40" too short even after they measured it 3 times. When they remade it and tried to install it this time it was 1" too long. I had them readjust screen #2 to go lower to the ground which he did.  Now I have to wait till screen #3 was remade again for the 3rd time.  They sent someone who knew what he was doing to premeasure again.  They send out Neial who was great and knew what to do.  I also told him the 2nd screen was making noise after the other guy readjusted it. He told me he has to replace the motor and idler. Why? Are their parts made in China. They called again to make an appointment to install screen #3 but they don't have the housing. They don't have any metal that long. They are waiting for a shipment from Italy. What, aren't there any aluminum factories in the USA? Neial came out but suggested that without the housing it would be better if he didn't install it.. I told him ok. He repaired screen #2 but told me that he would have to replace the right channel of the unit also next time and adjust the housing as the whole install was done incorrect.  They finally got the metal and came out to install #3. It fit and he did work on the others screens that were installed wrong and not even level. But because of the lack of metal before they had to make other peoples items also so he didn't have the cover for #3 yet. Finally on Nov. 27, 2013 he came out and fixed the rest of the screw ups from the other guy and installed the cover. So far it seems they work now. A friend of mine who is a handyman out here told me another house close by had the same problems with nothing but screw ups from the same guy who screwed up my screens. I was going to have more screens installed around the house but not after this mess.
Response from Tucson Rolling Shutters
"A measuring mistake was made and corrected. We did send out the foreman to double-double check the measurements to make sure we got it right. To answer this customer's question, it is true that NONE of the US aluminum extruders we contacted can extrude that size housing we tried US local first. The extruder was behind on the housing so we were waiting to receive the ocean container. I apologized on the phone to the customer directly about the delay. It was completely out of my control. Neal wasn't sure what was causing a noise. The product ran fine but he went ahead and replaced the motor and bearing idler just to be safe. Good luck getting Ford or BMW to do that on your car. We have a lifetime warranty on our motors and electronics. As a company I feel my team worked hard to make this right. We have been in business since 1979 and we always do our very best to take care of our clients. No matter what issue any client ever has we will always back our product and our people 100% to make everything right for the customer. The majority of our customers are 100% happy and come back for more product multiple times. That is why 70% of our business comes from existing customers and referrals. Again, I apologize to this customer the process took longer than usual but I'm sure they are happy with their new product as it is complete and functioning perfectly. Workmanship and quality are outstanding. The fit was amazing, the fit literally only had 1/2 inch to spare. The color matched perfectly and it has performed flawlessly. The price was very fair for the work performed. Be aware that depending on the time of the year, they can get backed up.

There were some challenges with the structure of the bump-out of one of our windows and did very well with the sculpting of the screens to fit this.  Their workmanship is absolutely top-notch.  I would recommend them to others.

The installation was problematic from the very beginning. The installers were 3 hours late in arriving. While notching out a space in my wall to mount the actuator switch for one of the rolling shutters, they drilled a hole clear through (inside to outside) my block wall. The exit hole took out a 3 inch diameter chunk of stucco on which they applied a "patch" (see picture 3). The mounting of the inside actuator switch was extremely sloppy (see pictures 1 and 2). It was a switch box left floating in the hole they notched out (no mounting hardware was used). The installers told us that the switch relay was defective and they would have to get a new one and install it. They left with the shutter being inoperable. Additional inspection revealed more poor workmanship. The installers had to cut a whole in some bird board to install one of the housings. The result was a wavy cut that didn't match up to the housing. See picture 4. Three days later (and after several phone calls requesting that the job be finished) another installer came out to replace the relay. He told us that the original installation was improper and would have caused the battery to prematurely drain. There were other issues that required attention and I was told someone would come out the following week to finish. When it was finally completed, a total of 21 days had passed.
Response from Tucson Rolling Shutters
"The pictures were taken during the construction process not of the completed job. We do have to make holes in the walls. Sometimes bigger than those shown. We offer clients two options for cutting switches into existing block walls: dig it in or mount to the surface. If you elect dig it in there is always a chance the block can break from the hammer drill used to make the hole. It is part of construction but in the end our projects usually look perfect. We have trim pieces that cover cuts made in wood boards. No company is perfect but we can sure try to be the best possible. We are a hard working honest local company that is licensed with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors for residential and commercial jobs. We've never been issued a single violation. Feel free to come see how we do things at TRS. We have two manufacturing facilities you can tour or we can set up a visit to an actual installation around Tucson. Contact me with any questions. The salesman came to the home and measured the area then presented me with the options he thought would work best for me. He left samples of the material so I could hang them and see how well they cut the sun without cutting my view. The workers who installed the screen were punctual and did an excellent job. We have had the screen up over a year now and have had no problems with it at all.

THE GENTLEMAN THAT CAME OVER SEEMED VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT HIS OCCUPATION. HE WAS REALLY NICE, AND HAD IT FIXED IN NO TIME. WE THOUGHT THE PRICE COULD'VE BEEN A LITTLE CHEAPER, BUT WERE SATISFIED.
