Ron installed ducting for a new kitchen exhaust vent. The ducting went through the attic and out the roof. He also rerouted HVAC lines, installing 2 new registers.
Unfortunately, Ron's work is so poorly executed he should not be in business. We need to have the kitchen exhaust vent completely redone, including roof repair. We've had to delay installation of out stove exhaust vent until repairs can be made. Ron installed the ducting upside down with open seams so the steam from the exhaust will get trapped and seep out into the cabinet and attic. He apparently made the T-top roof jack himself - it not only looked cheap, the cap overhang doesn't come down far enough to keep rain out of the ducting. The roof cap is installed above our entryway and is really an eyesore. He insisted he's used this roof jack for over 40 years without any problems. Before he put it up, I asked him to paint the galvanized metal to a color closer to our roof shingles, so it would be less obvious - he actually spray painted it up on the roof, including the roof shingles. It rained a couple of days after he completed installation and I felt rain droplets coming down the center of the duct. I called him and he insisted he just needed to add some tar around the roof seam. I explained the roof wasn't leaking, the rain was blowing into the duct. He said he would take a look - unfortunately he came by when we weren't home and slopped sticky black tar all over our roof -the tar he used is a sticky, runny liquid that has never firmed up. Again, this is above our entryway and looks terrible. He never corrected the problem, made it look worse and now we have to replace everything including the shingles he ruined.
On the HVAC work, he installed one of the HVAC register boxes lopsided so we can't get the register on straight and it gaps around the ceiling. We can't get the other register grill on - it's apparently a different size than the box. We'll know how the HVAC lines work when the summer heat comes.
Unfortunately, we have no confidence in Ron to come back to do any more work so any repairs will be an additional cost. I would caution against using Tucson Air.
