Incompetent and untrustworthy with horrible customer service We used TLC for our two Sissoo (Indian Rosewood) trees removal, thinking they knew how to deal with it. Upon completion of their work we realized, that this company does not stand behind their promises and their word means little. The tree removal was done by David Coyne and his team. Initially we were promised (and their invoice stated) the job will include both tree stumps be treated with poison in order to kill the root system, and that's partially the reason why their quote was higher. We asked David point blank whether he would provide follow ups if needed. He agreed, saying it would be easy to drop by and treat them. This was clearly stated several times to both of us. We were sure that their high cost justifies that. Well, we were wrong... Before the work started, my wife asked David to be mindful of the yukka plant she just planted, and he said they'll keep that in mind. Sure enough, their tree grinding machine was positioned right near the yukka plant and the trees were fed into the machine right over it. There was plenty of space in either direction, yet it was positioned right at the plant. Luckily, plant survived with only minor damages. Stumps were ground and no poison was applied. This is contrary to their invoice, quote: "no stump grinding, poison to be applied". David said no poison is needed as grinding should suffice and if there is new growth, to just give them a call, and someone would come out. That, like their other statements, turned out to be a lie. Sure enough, with arrival of spring suckers started showing up. We pulled them out where we could, treated them, but several new growths occurred on pretty large and deep roots, which they didn't take care of or maybe didn't even see. It would require a significant effort for us to remove those roots and, considering we paid this company almost $400, we decided to contact them, the way David told us to. At first, they tried avoiding us, not responding to emails, not answering calls and even hanging up mid-conversation. Then we got a response, that somebody would come out to take care of that, but they quickly changed their minds after realizing that wouldn't be an easy mess to correct. When we contacted them once again, we got another response, that the tree removal was performed to satisfaction (who's satisfaction that is?), no further follow up or service will be performed, and the case is closed. In that email it was also mentioned that poison was applied to the root system, yet David himself stated that they didn't apply any poison, insisting that grinding alone would kill it. We researched on the Net and found out that you need to drill holes in the stump and apply herbicide or have professionals inject it directly in the stump. We were sure that's what TLC would be doing, after all, we paid them for that service and were relying on their so-called "professionalism". This company will, basically, tell you what you want to hear. They will say 'yes' on everything in order to get your business, then will try to avoid you and twist things. The rudeness and arrogance of this company is astounding. This included not willing to offer any advice on how to deal with Sissoos until after several further emails. Regardless of contract, basic customer service should be to look out and advise customer of potential problems and offer some post-care advice. If TLC cared or knew anything about Sissoos, they should've informed us what to expect before they started the job. Had the company treated the trees by not grinding the stumps and instead treating the root system (the way it was stated in their invoice), things would have turned out much better. I have since found parts of the stumps, that were not ground, which no doubt, are connected to the root system. I have dug up parts and cut them, so that I could apply Tordun RTU. It appears to be working for the first tree. After paying nearly $400 I am having to deal with digging up roots, buying special herbicides and applying them endlessly, as a result of TLC´s incompetency, customer misleading and lack of follow up. I wonder, how this company is still in business? Avoid TLC at all cost. Your better of doing things yourself.

I through them off the property.The work they did was done poorly.I was a tree surgeon for 15 years and had my own biz.My wife was away and was coming back on a Tuesday.They started the job on a Friday, but didn't finish it which was ok.They left stubs on just about every cut that they made, and didn't know what fine pruning a tree meant. I told them to leave. I talked to the owner later that day, and I will say this about the owner. He knew what he was talking about, but if you have workers who don't know what they are doing it really doesn't matter how much you know. So he said let me make it right and come back Monday. I said ok. So at 7 in the morning they came, but he didn't come with them.When he said HE would be there I assumed HE would fix this situation. No I was wrong. He sent the same guys who put us to this point and I told them to get off the property. I ended up finishing the job myself, and I'm 60, and should have just done it myself. Very unprofessional company. Workers didn't know what they were doing.

Steve and his crew did a fabulous job, they cut where needed, manage to rebalance the tree so it looks great from all sides in perfect proportions....it,s like having a brand new tree! they were on time, very professional and did a good cleanup job... Will definitely hire again, highly recommended!!!

Steve came out and gave us an estimate for everything we wanted done in front and back yard (yard sprayed with weed killer, yard cleaned, trees trimmed, cactus trimmed, bushes trimmed). He also suggested that one of our trees be treated for some kind of bug that is supposedly killing the tree. He explained that his spray is one of the best in town, organic materials, etc. Steve left a good first impression so we went with him. He quoted us $800 to do everything (we have a large lot). Steve came out to spray the yard once, using our water to supply his tank. Some Hispanic guys showed up to do the work in what looked like their own personal truck, they didn't know what needed to be done, so we had to tell them again and they didnt speak English very well. They were quick with the work but they trimmed our palm bushes back to almost nothing, they looked ridiculous, almost to the point of needing to dig them up and get new ones. They didn't trim one of the trees and didn't take care of the large weeds on the side of the house as we had asked, which we didn't notice until after they left. They told us Steve was out of town and that he would be by the next day to collect all of the trimmings/debris. That didn't happen so we contacted Steve, which he told us some guys would be out a different day to collect all of the trimmings and debris left behind "on his way home" (supposedly he lived in our area). After several calls over a course of a week or so to Steve, someone finally came out "on their way home" to pick up the piles. The guy collected all but one pile, which he had to drive by on our side yard to get to the back gate where all the other trimmings/debris was. We tried contacting Steve to collect the rest of the trimmings and we kept getting told "the guy" would be by to collect it "on his way home." He never showed up so we ended up cutting up the trimmings and putting it in our trash can over the next two weeks. Per the original estimate and conversation, Steve was supposed to come out to spray our yard a second time a few months after the first time but he never called us. It seemed as though our job was a side job for him and he hired some guys on the side to come do our work. He apologized each time we actually spoke to him but there was no timely resolution to our issues and there was no follow through. Luckily, we only paid him half of what was quoted (which was verbal), the first time he came out to spray our yard (agreement was half up front, then half when finished). Maybe our fault for not getting things in writing but I guess we trusted someone who had a good rating on Angie's list and who gave us a good first impression. We don't plan on using this company or referring him to anyone. Other reviews seem to be good, maybe it was just a case of bad luck for us.

We had a large tree in the front yard which was dying. TLC sent an arborist who was clearly extremely knowledgeable. The tree could not be saved. TLC later sent a team to remove the tree and replace it. They arrived on time and were very courteous and professional. They made quick work of the dead tree and its replacement. They also adjusted the irrigation system to make sure the new tree was getting water. They were fastidious in cleaning up after their work and when they left the yard was restored to its previous, neat condition. I couldn't be more pleased with their work.

Steve is one of the most knowledgeable arborist I have met. He was great to work with and offered very thoughtful suggestions on what to plant and what to remove. His tree crew came within two days of talking to him and did an amazing job taking down some very large trees. Steve also works with the local zoo and we donated all our trees to them. The zoo actually showed up to pick up the green waste. One palm tree in the front yard needed HOA permission and the crew came back a couple of weeks later to take it down. Again a great job at taking it down without any damage. We also asked some privacy trees to be put and they did a great job at it. The job also included clean up on the front and backyards but the clean up was less than perfect with some debris left behind. I called Steve and told him about it and his crew came back and spent two more hours taking care of things.
The only downside is that the job was not cheap by any means. The bid was significantly higher than the others but given the reviews here we knew about it going in. Over all I am very happy with the work they did with the tree trimming and planting. I wish they had done a better clean up job.

You had mentioned that you were pleased with our work on those 3 separate service occasions so I'm not sure why you're saying there was an issue with either our cost or our services now after telling us something different at those times. From the initial estimate to the completion of the work, the process went very smoothly. The bid came as promised and scheduling was a breeze.
The workers arrived at the appointed time and meticulously trimmed our trees. Clean up was great as well.

The trim job on the large euc has proven to be the rattiest looking I've ever had. (This tree has major work every 10 years).
I'm sure it will look better in time, but they left some pretty weird straggly branches. The rest of the work was adequate, but not worth the amount they charged. The tree I paid $400 for has not grown at all in a year. I had to go around with one of the workers after they were done trimming and show them cuts that needed to be made and cuts my neighbor had made (without asking!) that needed to be cleaned up. He willingly complied.
My previous arborist, who has retired, would inspect every crotch in the big trees carefully and make appropriate cuts. A week after this work was completed, we had a strong wind and a BIG branch of one of my big mesquites ripped off and was hanging. I felt that should have been noticed on inspection prior to trimming.
Not bad work, but I have had comparable work for much less money.
Oh yes, when I asked them about the 10% discount they advertised on their website for angle's list clients, they said they only give that discount if you mention angle's list before they make a quote, so I did not get the discount.

We came back a week later to plant an additional 25 gallon tree of which was included in the pricing mentioned. We were under the impression you were highly satisfied with our services as you had not indicated otherwise. Our pricing and skill placed on your job is very comparable with other properly Licensed, Insured and Certified tree care professionals in our area. We did trim, feed and mulch 12 mature trees, removed and ground a stump to 1 palm, planted a 25 gallon tree, cleaned up and chipped up several downed limb piles and removed several cacti throughout your property. Additionally we did explain to you at the time of our estimate that the Eucalyptus tree would take 2-3 years to fill back in after our pruning due to improper cuts/topping made by your previous tree person. Again, we wish you would have contacted us immediately rather then preparing a bad review of our services almost a year later where we are now unable to resolve your issues and retain your business."

They got to work immediately and took down the trees carefully and quickly. They had a few limbs that fell (were guided to the ground better describes it) into the neighbor yards. They picked up and ground up all the limbs, ground out the stumps, cleaned up my neighbor yards and my yard and were on the road by 10:00AM. Quick, professional, thorough and courteous service.

The arborist (third generation) who worked here shared invaluable information as he answered my many questions. I really appreciated learning about the problems with trees in the desert and what I need to do to keep my trees healthy and free from pests (which is a problem I have).
Work was done efficiently, as was clean-up.

They came on time for spraying the trees and about 2 hours early for thinning out the trees. Dave came and introduced himself and I showed him what I wanted. He worked on the tree in the back and Eric cleaned up the Red Rock Oak in front. The rest of the crew worked quite swiftly cleaning up the branches, leaves. They were completely done in 1 hour. They did a beautiful job trimming and cleaning up. They asked me to look the job over and made sure I was completely satisfied.

I got three estimates. While the bid from TLC was not the lowest, it included much more and was priced by the day, not by each specific task. This worked for me because there was a lot of work to be done. Also, I wanted to have a professional Arborist to oversee the project, to ensure proper technique and care of our numerous trees.. The crew arrived on time and quickly got busy. They worked very hard all day and did not waste time. They accomplished everything I wanted and more. They were courteous and communicated well. I am pleased with the results. Our trees look great - they finally got the TLC they needed!

They are very good. I would recommend them. They are arborists. I have used them before I used Angie's List. They are excellent. I use them every January. They understand how to prune trees decently. They understand how to treat trees because I had one tree that was sick. They do a lot of work for some of hotels also. They are terrific. They are knowledgeable and professional people. They are excellent workers. They have a great taste. They have excellent aesthetic qualities and they know how to do it. I referred them to a number of friends and they loved them. The price is fair. They are trained in tree maintenance and tree treatment. They helped me with some other things that I have in my yard. I had a problem with my lawn and they helped me. Many tree service providers aren't arborist in this city and I don't want to hire them. I want an arborist. I have used them for 5 years.
