Hair Salons/Barbers
I'm new to Tucson and was referred to Signe by a friend of a friend. After checking out their website and finding out that it looked like a comfortable atmosphere and not a metal and glass, and quot;I feel so under dressedand quot; kind of place I decided to give them a try.
All I can say is that I'm really glad I did. As soon as I got there I was greeted and I waited no more than 10 minutes. Signe listened to my disjointed explanation of what I wanted in a haircut and from that she was able to diagnose the problem with the cut I had been given six months previously. What a relief it was to have someone understand what I wanted and give feedback. She also clued me in on the best way to dry my hair to get the result that I wanted.
Hooray for a good stylist and a great cut!

$75 for color is a little high for me. I must not have check the price before I went?? Haircut was fine. I don't mind paying $$ for a good colorand cut; this is just more than I thought it was worth. I have no complaints about the business or the stylist. They were professional and helpful. thanks.

The perm did not take and the cut was exactly opposite of what I
requested, resulting in half my hair length lost. When I came back on
Saturday to discuss the problems, both the Owner, Carmen, and the
'stylist' Paula, were not there, as they said they would be.
Though the receptionist apologized said they would be in later that day, I explained that I could not return. No one called.
I am feeling really stupid because I tipped generously and purchased product from these people.

Response from The Coyote Wore Sideburns
"Sorry about this misunderstanding, this is the first I am hearing about it and that is unacceptable. We usually have better communication at 'the Coyote". I will be in touch with you."

I found The Coyote and Paula when I first moved to Tucson, 6 months ago. Though it's scary to have to change hairstylists, Paula was so easygoing and took such good care of me, that I had no fear. She is an artist with a great attitude (as are all the stylists at The Coyote, I believe), and she chose a perfect color for me. If I ever want to do something completely different with my hair, I know she will do a great job of it.
My only complaint is the occasional lack of punctuality. On several visits, I have either been made to wait or been called an hour or two before my appointment, asking me to come in a half-hour later. Now I have learned to plan for that, so it's no big deal. This is laid-back 4th Avenue after all, and there are plenty of places to kill some extra time if you're facing a delay.

My husband is very particular about his haircuts and he had been very satisfied with the cuts he gets from Carmen (a man). My husband has thick, fast growing hair with a little curl (he's Mediterranean). He's says that these are some of best haircuts he's had in the US. He works long hours and travels frequently; Carmen has graciously accommodated his busy schedule as sometimes he needs a cut quickly before he goes on a trip. After my husband had been going there a while, I asked Carmen to cut our daughter's hair. He's fit her in before or after my husband's cut and has only charged around $10 plus tip. He does a cute inverted bob for her. I was concerned that the construction would make parking difficult but it hasn't been a problem at all. Usually we are able to park behind the salon and there is other parking nearby.

The first hair cut was good; the second grew out too quickly. By the third haircut she seemed annoyed or impatient, so I didn't go back again. They seemed to have too much attitude.

I've been getting my hair cut at Coyote Wore Sideburns for nearly a decade. This year I decided to confront the gray and start coloring it. They have Aveda and other natural/organic-style coloring that I really like. The experience has been excellent, and the color really keeps. I've always liked Coyote's hair cutting, but adding the color makes the whole experience feel like a little mini-spa day. The place feels good and has actually friendly --not "box store" friendly -- people who clearly love working there.
